Okay, I've been toying with the mod, and here's my first question:

The KE-X130 External Drilling Unit claims to have an energy draw of 8.00/sec. I have six solar panels on my craft, outputting 2x 1.98 + 2x 1.70 + 2x 1.47 (per second each). My storage is being drained by another 2.84/sec while the drill is active. This adds up to over 13/sec. There is no other energy drain active on the craft anywhere. What is going on?

Kethane mod version 0.8.2 because I downloaded yesterday before the bugfix.

IS there any way to get satellites to work without being focused on them?

Actually I think there might be a way to do this.

From what I read, after installing that mod, you attach a part from that mod to your mapping sat, right click the part and click "activate", and the mapping sat will no longer be unloaded so long as the ship you are controlling is within 300km (default, distance is adjustable via .cfg file)

As long as it works as described and doesn't cause a plugin conflict, that should be all you need to do.

If it works, I've just found a reason to build a rocket that can place multiple satellites in orbit simultaneously.

Of course, my inner Jeb will inevitably result in it being able to, with a single launch, put an entire constellation of satellites in orbit. Around another planet (and maybe its moon(s) too).

Anyone else having problems downloading? I can visit any site with normal speed, but the download (of 14.9 MB) estimates 30 minutes, and stops 1 MB in.

That's a client side connection issue not the fault of the server and especially not the fault of the mod author

Reset your connection and it should be just fine

Calm down there, bub. I wasn't implying it was anyone's fault. Regardless, a client side issue does not at all explain why I am able to reach any site and watch any video with decent speed, and yet this one download gives me problems. It's obvious if this one zip file is the only thing that won't download, then I am not the problem. And to test, I restarted my computer. Nothing. Might I suggest an alternate site to download from, like MediaFire, or similar?

Kethane 0.8.4 has been released. The download link on the first post has been updated.

This update fixes a critical bug. It is only compatible with versions 0.6 through 0.8.3.

Changes in this version:

  • Fixed a bug introduced in 0.8.3 which disabled resource mining and detector configuration.
  • Fixed an issue where the toolbar button would persist in scenes without the map view.

Haha you say it so lightly,essentially:"yep fixed a bug which stopped all use of kethane!" XD But seriously thanks!

Nothing to worry about. The main plugin was renamed from MMI_Kethane to Kethane, so the original name was replaced with an empty file to prevent issues when people upgrade from an old version without performing a clean installation.

i finaly finished my first Kethane Mun base....

does anyone know a easy way to distribute the fuel to the tanks? My production stops if the fuel in the tanks directly connected to the converter is filled. Then i have to distribute the fuel manually by hand.

The tanks at the converter are only the x200-16 so sending the fuel to the 3 big red ones is pain. Even if one x200-16 is full the one directly connected wont get filled.

Cross-feeding is allowed everywhere. Mono-prop works, but there i dont have tanks directly at the converter.....

Screen:

A = tanker shuttle for orbit <->surface transport connected with KAS

B = 4 converter with 1 x200-16 each

C = 3 red tanks as storage

D = 2 drills at the base + 2 drills on a mobile one.

The super simple way to run your Kethane bases...TAC fuel balancer, its really a great mod and kinda goes hand in hand with kethane operations...also great for spaceplanes, SSTOs and atmo aircraft =)

Os a side note....how much of a pain was it to land that crane? =) Things like that can be a hassle to put down sometimes.

K.. another mod :D I hope KSP soon can handle more then 4 GB of RAM. Otherwise i´m lost, even with the reduction mods.

The crane was actually simpel. Ok, i use "Kerbal-Joint-Reinforcement" so there is no wobbling at all. I think next time i just weld the frame with the welding mod and save on the struts :D

TAC fuel is very light weight as far as memory footprint goes, no parts, and a simple plugin. Well worth the tiny bit of resources it uses, even with the 32-bit limits..

The other option would be to route fuel lines from all tanks you wanted filled to your converters. There is a link in OP to thread that discusses how fuel routing works with Kethane.

Sort of. Because the planets are all based off another planet, it uses the original planet's grid and kethane data. For all the planets not in Sentar or Serious systems, the kethane grid is incredibly far from the surface, but on the others, it's pretty decent.
