Everyone in this thread (even in the forum) deserved a prize for what he/she invented. Here are so many clever ideas and cool designs, it's always a pleasure to scroll through the posts here...

enough of that, my two cents:

This is my 0.19 Mar.. er... Duna Tank Car, called "Big Wheels". First on earth, then in space, then back on earth, even tugged and docked in space. Haven't got it to Duna yet, but I am working on that ;)

The vehicle is concepted as a multi-role-capable tank cart, able to refuel small vessels, drag things around and explore the surface. It's got endless power supply for daytime-independent missions, and using the big wheels kerbanauts don't have to be too carefull on rougher terrain.

With the additional grey tank right behind the cockpit the cart can lower/raise the nose, simply tansferring its content to the large tank and back, as long as the large one is not full.

I like especially the last picture ;)

*** some rovers are super heavy and likely unbalanced weight wise. Recommend to use mech jeb & lots of monoprop.

** mods needed inorder to work: b9 aerospace, spacetech

* follow the speed limit of every individual planet- other wise ull crash

***MECH JEB NO LONGER NEEDED

47078120.jpg

these are the only 2 items needed from the mods

* st radial engine- by space tech

* Y1 protective cap by tetragon projects

The crew testing the SPT Mk III (Surface Personnel Transport). (In the background, Jeb is driving his new golf cart).

Unfortunately the design with 10 seats had to be scrapped due to unforeseen problems, thus the 6-seater Mk IV.

Also, due to control setup, all passengers turn on their helmet lights when the vehicle turns right :D .

GROAN! I am a dolt! I kept wondering why the fritz my guys' lights were going on and off! It never occurred to me that I had set L for lights and L for left at the same time.

Yeah, I would have thought entering a seat would disable the helmet lights but apparently not. I need to find an unused key to bind the lights to now. :(

Hi there KSP Forums!

One day I got frustrated with rovers. They were too small, too ungainly, and way too easy to flip over. So I sat down and made the Munar Mobile Laboratory or MML for short! As you can see, it's a pretty big rover, weighing in at exactly 27.5 tons according to MechJeb. She's completely stock except for one solitary MechJeb case (will have both Jeb and NonJeb versions below available for download).

The thing handles really well on most surfaces (go ahead, drive it around the launch pad on it's own and see for yourself!) and drives well in low gravity as well. I don't have a huge amount of experience in KSP, but I have been to the Mun, Minmus, and the atmosphere of Eve in my Kerbonautics career.

Here's the MML in the vehicle assembly building:

Now, you've got to think that having no less than 24 wheels to power just to get around would be a major problem. Luckily, the MML is equipped with a few solar panels:

Pressing 1...

vV56tgv.jpg

Okay, maybe more than just a few. With them all in direct sunlight, the batteries charge at around 95/sec or so not including the radioisotope generators (one Kerbin Engineer later referred to this statement as "redonculous").

Sweet Rove Parties

UDvxxC6.jpg

And for those of you who love to go to sweet night-time rove parties on the moon (or sun, who's judging?) the MML comes with a 3,400 charge capacity.

Breaking the Lag Barrier

vkHC5ZL.png

I also included my rocket capable of getting the MML to the Mun. As of yet I've failed to get it any farther (I'm looking at you, Minmus!). Or any other planets so far. Maybe some of you can get it to planets its never been to before and post pictures? On launch it's kind of laggy for being around 400 parts, but once you break the "Lag Barrier", it's smooth sailing.

The MML acts as its own skycrane, with plenty of fuel (about 1079 delta-v's worth), and lets you use the liquid rocket engines as jump jets for impassable terrain, or just when you want to fly a rover around.

It also comes with a docking port on top for those of you who like docking things. Who doesn't?

Let me know what you guys think! And show me where you can take it in the posts below :P

Mission Success!

The original saves include MechJeb. For those of you don't have it, it's fantastic and can be found here: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/mechjeb/

For those of you who don't, I included the saves with "2" denoting no MechJeb onboard.

Do you happen to be using an older version of Mechjeb? I'm trying to use the Spark, but it says that I'm missing Mumech AR202, when I have Mechjeb 2.0.8 installed already.

Well, you see, at 3AM, wierd things occur:

A friend of mine and I had a race, who could build the fastest rover on Kerbin:

the classical idea, reaching 150 m/s before killing itself

37zBL

my other idea, which reached 350 m/s

37Anl

I actually won a race to the Mun with that thing, it was a simple "who gets there first" mission and the goal was to impact the Mun. I hit the Mun at 4 km/s after 1 hour 37 minutes.

Here's my Rover/Base.

It has non-solar power regen, an interior and exterior, 6 Mk. I Landing Cans on the interior, 1 Cupola on the exterior (accessible from the interior for driving), all the science equipment, 25 Mk. I Illuminators, 2 Telsus-LV Ladders to get to the ground, and 8 RoveMax XL3 wheels.

It weighs 40.22 tons, only uses the MechJeb mod, can go 12 m/s on Kerbin, and can hold up to 7 Kerbalnauts.

Download it here! (From Google Drive)

This thread gave me the gift of inspiration!

I present the Avalanche rover, with the capacity to carry two Kerbals, ample RTGs and solar panels to power it forever, a wide, low body to prevent it from flipping, and four landing legs only there to "make it look cooler".
