DerGolgo
So I live on a disability pension, have way too much time, and have been playing the same (heavily modded) career since July. I gathered up more science than I had needed to finish the Tech Tree, and since then, I've adopted a strategy to convert all science into Reputation. Over the weekend, I hit 99%. Is it even possible to reach 100%? According to the wiki, it shouldn't be possible, and points awarded for contracts should be decreasing the closer I get. They do seem to be decreasing. Yet I managed to keep piling on points to reach 99%, and the points I'm offered now don't seem so different from the points I got with contracts at 98%. So if I just keep collecting enough points fast enough, could I crack 100%? OR is there a limit condition built into whatever formula calculates the reputation %? Does the graph for % vs. reputation points flatten out and never touch 100%? If I can't get to 100%, I don't think I have any reason to continue playing this particular career, I might start a new one and try out RSS. But if it IS possible, I want to get there! king of nowhere
frankly, i'm not sure how it works, but i've seen reputation decrease with time. i do suspect you get a fixed negative amount of reputation slowly with time, and you can counteract that with positive reputation you earn. but you will always have a bit of negative reputation, preventing you from going 100%. unless maybe you can get such a favorable ratio, it rounds to 100%. frankly, i'd just try adding reputation with cheats to see if it's possible. if it turns out to be possible, then reload and try to gain it regularly. Superfluous J
You can. I've done it. But you need to game the system. I don't remember the math right now but basically the rep you get is based on your current rep. When you're at 99%, you get a tiny TINY fraction of what the contract states. When you're at 90% you get much more than at 99%, but much less than at 0% What you want to do is crash a few times, kill a few Kerbals, fail a few 3-star contracts, and get down to 90%. Then trade a TON of money or science (whatever you have more of) in the Admin Complex for rep. Save the game first because I don't know how much you'd need to trade, but it's doable. The trick is, you MUST do it in one go, while the math is using 90% (or less even) rep to do the calculations. If you spend $1M at 90% you'll get a lot more rep than if you spent $100,000 ten times, starting at 90% rep.
