piperfixation
Good afternoon, KSP forum. My name is Piper and I'm new around these parts. I come to you with a heavy heart asking for some technical support. The other day, my girlfriend and I built a spaceplane together in KSP 1. We called it Nugget-1. See below. It didn't fly amazing but it was the first thing that she and I had created together. We genuinely got emotional over it, and yes, we shed some tears over Nugget. Nugget was essentially our child, especially since my girlfriend and I cannot have kids on our own IRL. I know it's super cheesy but Nugget meant a lot to us. I know I can easily recreate Nugget in the SPH, but I desperately want Nugget's one-to-one craft file because my goal is to eventually convert the .craft file to an .stl file with some mods in order to 3D print Nugget out and gift it to my girlfriend for her birthday in January. Anyways, it was only after we had landed on the island airstrip, saved, gone back to the SPH, and started building a new spaceplane that I realized I hadn't saved Nugget's craft file in the SPH. I frantically began searching for a way to recover Nugget's craft file. I stumbled upon Kerbaltek's craft extractor tool (https://www.kerbaltek.com/craftkitchen). I tried that out and was able to pull Nugget's craft file. I tossed the file into my SPH craft folder and loaded it up, only to realize that a) the craft was basically non-editable and b) that it was just the fuselage (no wings, canards, control surfaces, RCS thrusters, battery, etc.). I was pretty sad that the tool didn't work. I was able to open the .sfs save file in which Nugget was sitting pretty on the island airstrip in order to see if I could reverse engineer Nugget's code and try to rebuild a one-to-one craft file. I was able to isolate the chunk of code that stored her craft file. I tried to rebuild a craft file out of that chunk, but each time I would try and load it, the craft file would show up as zero parts in the menu, show up as a whole ton of nothing in the editor, and would crash my game when I attempted to launch it. So KSP forum, I humbly ask for your help. Provided for you is Nugget's (non-working) craft file that I had isolated from my save, titled raw nugget.craft. If anyone can debug it, test it, and send it back, I will forever be in your debt. - Piper [Link to my GitHub containing Nugget's non-working craft file] - https://github.com/cervidwithmoped/nugget/blob/main/raw nugget.craft
DennisB
Go to the SPH and open your craft folder. If you didn't launch other things since then, there must be an auto-save of your last launched craft.

Lisias
It's cumbersome, but you can copy your SFS file into the right folder on KSP, and then edit it removing everything but the craft you want to salvage. Or you can try this tool: https://www.kerbaltek.com/craftkitchen (look for "Craft Extractor" on the bottom of the page).
