How to fix this weird glow on Kerbin, only visible from the Mun's daytime side on or above the surface?

Recommended Posts

I got a new computer, so I've been trying to download all the best visual mods that I can get. I've been playing with stuff on the Mun, and I can't help but notice: this weird glow on Kerbin appears whenever I'm on the Mun during daytime, but never during the Mun's evening or nighttime. Could someone tell me what's happening, and how I can get the night side of Kerbin to stay black?

List of mods I have downloaded that I think could potentially effect this: Scatterer, EVE Redux, Planetshine, Distant Object Enhancement, Kopernicus, Spectra

If ANY more info is needed, please let me know! I'm looking forward to a solution!Screenshot-1.png

Do you mean that the dark side of Kerbin is dimly visible? The would be due to reflected light from the Mun's lit surface. Planetshine or Deferred are the most likely mods to do that.

Yes, I’m talking about the dark side of Kerbin.  I don’t have Deferred installed, so it’s probably PlanetShine… is there any way that I can get rid of the shine on Kerbin from the Mun? IIRC this started happening after I downloaded Scatterer, but I don’t remember

I use Planetshine but never did much with its settings. Maybe it has some setting to control the maximum distance of reflection so Mun light can't reach Kerbin.

Another option could be to add TUFX to your mods. Pick a profile or make your own with more contrast for deeper shadows.

Okay, I’ll try playing with PlanetShine’s settings, and might try out TUFX again if I have to (had it before), thank you for your advice.

I just found out what was causing it, it was simply the stock reflection settings... seems odd but apparently a stock issue, not PlanetShine nor Scatterer

In that case, try reducing your ambient light setting. Also check if you have the mod Minimum Ambient Light installed.

IMO you call it a stock issue but I call it a feature :) It's not fun to play a game where I can't see my own ship or the surface where I landed. You can probably find settings to make the shadowed side of planets 100% black, though.
