Can anyone please tell me what the status is of the american pack and 0.23.5? The latest version I can find is 1.2.

UPDATE: Well I installed this with 0.23.5 and with FAS (Ferram Aerospace) the Ares I was nearly impossible to get to orbit without going straight up until over 39km where the atmospheric pressure drops to almost zero. If you try to turn it before then it just rips itself apart as the SRB is full-on and is exceeding terminal velocity before it even gets to 2km! Either the booster stats need to be dialed back or I need someone to explain the proper lfight profile with this craft when used in conjunction with FAS.

You think bobcat will create a proper SLS and add it to the American pack instead of the jury rigged ones you can create with mods and stock parts? Or just overhaul the Aries and Altair? Meaning a huge sls with the srbs from the American pack, and engines and tanks to scale.

I'd like to see that too, but making a "proper" SLS right now might be tricky. Neither the upper stage nor booster specs are settled. It appears NASA is considering several upper/earth departure stages, and will likely use different ones depending on payload and mission. For SLS Block II, NASA has begun the Advanced Booster Competition that is expected to end in 2015, the candidates being a new Advanced SRB, a liquid booster with an american version of the NK-33, and a liquid booster with two modernized F-1 engines (from the Saturn V). The Block I that will launch the unmanned lunar fly-by in 2017 will use the normal SRBs and a "modified Delta Cryogenic Second Stage". After that, it's all in the air.

So BobCat has some difficult choices when updating the American Pack. For one the Ares rockets have been canceled, and so has the Altair lander. The Orion Service Module has changed (at least the solar panels). I'd consider renaming the current pack as the Ares Pack or Constellation Pack and keep it as sort of a legacy pack moving forward.

I agree with everything. It should become a legacy pack because the parts are awesome, its just that they aren't going to be used. I did jury rig an SLS though with SDHI, Aerojet/Kerbodyne, and the American SRBS. Its wildly overpowered. I made it to an encounter with Jool and back.

Here's my attempt. Stock capsule, SM and LES. Stock Kerbodyne first stage, except for SRB nose cones from KW. The second stage is a J2 Engine Mounting Plate and matching decoupler/engine faring from FASA, BobCat's J-2X engine (FASA's J-2 is too weak, but can also work), some round RCS tanks, white kerbodyne tank (half full for balance) and a tank/adapter from KW Rocketry (empty). Has enough DeltaV for a Mun fly-by like the SLS Block 1. A little more fuel and it can orbit the Mun and come back.

Nice!! The only reason I didn't use Bobcats Orion and LES is because his parts don't line up with anything.

Eeeh, guys, Bobcat has denied making an SLS. It was a long, LONG time ago, but he said that he did not want to make it.

Maybe he has changed his mind?..............unlikely.

I haven't tried Ferram yet, but you can try reducing the thrust of the SRB (right click on it inside the assembly building). I'd suggest trying to set it so the thrust-to-weight ratio is 1.40.

Try this it's called Engine Thrust Control it's required for the CSS and it helps regulate the SRBs and it works great with FAR the Aries works with it.

Also I have RPM installed and all of the IVAs are blank? RPM says it works with American Pack but I still don't have IVAs

Bobcat had is own RPM's look in KSP/GameData/BobCatind/HOME2/Props/HOMEMFD60x20.

does anyone know if bobcat has alternate downloads of all his mods other than on spaceport? we stand a chance of losing these great mods when spaceport shuts down in a few days.

So download them and put them in a folder. Also aren't there mediafire downloads on the first page?

Crap you are right the mediafire ones are horribly out of date even for bobcat standards. Someone who knows bobcat needs to contact him. I mean its not beyond Bobcat to just let it die. Look at HOME.

I think we stand to lose all of bobcats stuff nobodys seen him and he has expressed he has no interest in his old mods, I believe somebody download all the content on spaceport

Actually a few pages back he said he was working on updating the soviet and american packs.

How does it work? It comes with no instructions, and I can't find this plugin anywhere else. Does it allow to change SRB thrust mid flight? If so that's not realistic. Yes, the Shuttle's SRBs varied their thrust along the flight, reducing it during the critical Max Q phase, but that was prepared during manufacture. It wasn't done at the push of a button.

Exactly thats what it does. It varies the power of the SRBs through out the entire flight. If you right click the srbs during flight it tells you what the percent of thrust the srbs are generating. Also with that plugin the srbs never really go off the fuel burns down to almost zero and the thrust is at 1% so they are basically dead weight and you can jettison them.

Question how do I get the burn damage to work? I remember last time I downloaded it there was reentry damage. Now I right click and it says can toggle burn state but that doesn't even work.

Ok, I have a few complaints, entirely centered around the Buran manipulator. I know it is designed to move objects, and I have seen people use it for it's intended purpose, but I can never actually get it to move anything. All the controls lock out the moment it magnetizes. Is there something I'm missing here? Whatever it grabs becomes part of the shuttle, and won't undock from it after, either
