[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread

I've solved it now, I had to jettison the Probe core that was over the top of the docking port. But there's a new problem! I was about to send my first Kerbals to it via Soyuz TMA, and I only saw Bill and Bob. "Where's Jeb?" I wondered... he wasn't classed as lost, and the Mir didn't show any crew aboard... but it seems he's in the passenger seat of the Kvant-1? Eh?! And what's stranger is, I can't seem to get him out of there! Any ideas folks? If nothing else, I may have to design a Buran mission to move the Kvant via Robotic Arm into the cargo hold, and bring it down manually... or possibly attach a parachute to the rear and hope Jeb survives the descent back! Ahh ... adventures!

Do you have the crew manifest mod its great for moving crew around can Jeb go EVA as you might be able to move him that way

Guys, go easy on bobcat. He's maling a lot of stuff for you, and all you do is "Hey, this thing is awesome, take a look at it" which is just another way of saying "Will you please make this thing?". If. I were bobcat, i'd be prototype tired of you. You're still begging bobcat to do a craft (the mig spiral) that he explicitly denied!

Hey, I know he wont do it, I was joking with my post 'bout the MiG-3, I still remember the post where he said he wont do it, and also I was just showing off what would be awesome in game. No one presses bobcat on doing anything for us, nor can anyone do so. Its his choice. I dont think its bad to spam some kewl rocket pics around.

I don't, yet, but that may be something to briefly install to get him out; he's not visible in the lower right so he can't be selected for EVA, and left clicking the Kvant part doesn't seem to reveal a hatch I can open to let him out. Once he's in there, it seems he's stuck in default Soviet Pack... he got added because I didn't think to check it for crew before launching, and the VAB added him to the "Passenger Seat" and I didn't notice until I found he was missing due to his not being visible on the launch pad.

However staring very, very closely at the craft files and associated pdf, it seems the creator has made some small tweaks, there's Kvant solar panels on the Kristal too, which I shall space walk and remove.

"If. I were bobcat, i'd be prototype tired of you". Good thing you did not Bobcat. Otherwise, we would have never seen such wonderful mod as the "Soviet Pack".

It's the damn iPad autocorrect. I hate it.

All right, sorry. It's sometimes very hard to detect sarcasm/irony over the internet.

I'd be for anything on this picture:

Also, Zenit + Zarya would be AWESSSSSSSSSOOOOOMMEEEEEEE!!! (sorry I had to)

We already have one thing from that picture :P

Personally, I've never had these issues with AutoCorrect... Don't you proof-read your posts?

Besides, if it annoys you so much, turn it off.

Well, it's not ONLY my iPad, so I can't really turn it off. I caught a lot of autocorrect mess-ups, but apparently not all of them. That's why I like to have a computer and a keyboard :)

It's coming in about a week. We don't have to wait much. I kept an eye on KSPTV and so far I can say that Lunokhod with the white science data collector unit's parameters is going to be very good and finaly useful in the game. I read that parts so far only need config modification to be placed costumly by modders in the tech tree.

Sputnik and Vostok, plus Voskhod. BobCat mentioned that it's impossible to make the Vostok now (no ejection seats in KSP), but the Voskhod would do. It wouldn't take much to turn it into Vostok once KSP has the necessary functionality, especially if he also decided to make the Molniya, 4th stage of which is derived from Vostok 2nd one.

I was refering to the already existing Vostok mod from the other pack (which could be inappropriate, sorry for that) but you're right, there aren't any ejection options now. I still don't know how much 'coding' it will require to set up a costum campaign but with the existing Soviet Pack hardware from early soyuz through Moon race to MIR it would make a nice carreer. Soyuz could also collect science and probably also is able to transfer the data. Btw it would be awesome anyway playing with the pack a complete program.

Question for all the experienced Cosmonauts then; been having fun with the Buran now, but Mechjeb seems to have intense difficulty flying it. In particular he gets it into orbit but then can't rendezvous with Mir as he finds it impossible to keep the nose following the course, constantly swinging around trying to find that last 0.3m/s or so of thrust at the end of each burn.

Also, having given up trying to make it to Mir, I tried to get Mechjeb to land, but again it seemed to confuse him; in the end I managed to make a manual landing down, with a few bumps, using RCS to keep the nose up and a fortunately very, very large continent to run out of speed on... but is it possible to bring it down with Mechjeb using the Spaceplane options at all?

And finally, I tried loading more fuel in the cargo bay, with the idea being I could refuel Mir with it, but so far the only thing I can get to stick inside is the RCS; all the liquid fuel tanks seem to refuse to clip in, even when using structural to hold them. And advanced loading, any suggestions for weight and placement to do so? ;)

where is mir launch probe? cant find it anywhere.. if i launch mir core it contains 5 kerbs.. version 1.9.0

Add a stock probe to your launch vehicle. than a decoupler on top of it and then atop that the MIR module.

You don't even need that, MIR modules can work as command pods on their own, and don't need to be manned. Also, if you had the probe, you'd still have Kerbals in the module. Just remove them manually.
