International construction ISS in Kerbal orbit.

But a question to the PMA adapter:

Does it be a docking port, or do I have to stick one onto the PMA adapter to dock on it?

I tried to dock on it, but I couldn't?? ... I'm not sure if this is normal.

And what is the "MIR docking Port Probe" actually good for? ... I always use the "MIR docking Port Drogue"?

A single part can't have more than one docking port, so the PMA only has a docking port on the APAS side (the small side that docks to the Shuttle ODS and the Russian docking ports.) You should attach a CBM to the other side of the PMA, and another CBM to the point you want to dock it to.

KSP docking ports are all androgynous; they're only differentiated by size (i.e. you can't dock size 2 to size 3.) But many real life docking systems use the probe and drogue system, including four docking ports (Zvesda, Pirs, Rassavet, and Piosk) for cargo vessels on the ISS, used by Progress, Soyuz, HTVs, and ATVs. So the two parts are there to model the real-life docking system.

See how far I am with my own International Space Station ISS!

Looks pretty nice. Your JEM seems to be mounted at zenith rather than port, and the truss segments are mounted on Unity instead of Density, but good facsimile. Is that Shuttle your own creation?

100% STOCK!!

This is hardly the correct place to be expressing that sentiment. I mean, this is a thread discussing an add-on that several community members have spent a significant amount of time and effort on. We like the ISS parts that are models of the real thing.

I LOVE the modelled ISS parts! :D

These are GREAT ;-)

Oh and, I just realized how these docking things work^^ ... This wasn't clear for me, as ports don't act usually as "docked" when putted together in the VAB, so I couldn't find out what's going on, trying different (same size) ports just on the ground :D ...

But now I have a nice looking ISS in the year 2000, saying Zarya, Unity and Zvezda in a wonderful 400km Orbit :)

Had to re-dock Zvezda for 3 times as it was not in one line with the Zarya module.

Just asking: Does Z1 exist/Is anybody working on it yet? :) ... would be nice to rebuild the ISS ~100%

oh that's a pitty.

do you guys put the P6 directly on the unity 1 module then?

EDIT: Just realized that Z1 is not needed for other modules.

I found this animation here, and didn't look at the last few years to see that Z1 is not needed.

Just click on the english-button on the right-down side and go to "Building the ISS".

Then you can go through all the years :)

For anyone interested, I have been using this website to plan the construction of ISS in my game (though I only have the first module up atm...still testing shuttles).

I like this because it shows what was done per mission, so not only can I recreate the ISS, but I recreate each individual build mission.

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you're trying to recreate the historical build order, you need Z1 to mount the P6 truss temporarily until the rest of the truss assembly gets lifted into orbit. It also served as a temporary holding spot for PMA-2 while Destiny was being mounted.

S0 -- in the real ISS -- is mounted on top of Destiny. There's no way to do this with the ISS parts as-is, but it's easy enough to modify the config file for Destiny to add an attachment node to the top of the part. (Here's the modified config file: http://www./download/vq93gh681n22tgw/Destiny_-_Config.zip)

ive downloaded the iss from the spaceport and its missing a MIR thing. i cant remember what its called. i think its the ASAS part. where do i find it? id really like to download the ISS and build it. also is there a building guide? ive looked at the parts and i cant figure out how they go together. could you maybe include like a number next to the parts to indicate which part goes first and so on?

You also need to download and install BobCat's soviet pack, KAS, and the Toggleable ASAS mods. There is an ISS craft file included with the mod that you can load up in the SPH to see how all the parts fit together. You can either hyper-edit that into orbit or try to do orbital construction, but there's no ready-to-use guide for construction. You could look at my construction journal (on hiatus for a couple weeks while I'm busy with IRL stuff:

Umm last time I downloaded that soviet pack I got the same error message of missing MIR ASAS. Sorry if this is stupid. I'm still new and trying to figure out all the KSP mods and how to find them.

Oh right, I forgot about this. You just have to remove all the references to Mir ASAS from the ISS craft file. I've done this for you in this craft file:

http://www./view/bbd16yjrp2curwe/ISS.craft

Just replace the one in your SPH folder with that one and it should work.

Hey BobCat! I actually think this mod is pretty complete and very functional, but it would be nice to have good looking models for Z1 and Pirs/MRM-2. (I figure the same model could be used for both Pirs and Piosk, and Rassvet can use the Mir dockport from your Soviet pack.) Do you know if you or any of the other collaborators on this pack are planning to complete those?

Regardless, thanks for organizing such a great part pack!

  • 2 weeks later...

And is this dead ? is anyone still working on this?

The first and only upload to spaceport was back in June. Just saying 60 days with no progress on a beta project kind if sucks.

This was one of the most exciting mods coming out and I thought back in April it had a lot of push going for it and then............
