[1.0.5] FASA 5.44

Its a known bug, It is only the FX that is broken the engine still works. I swapped the values for LR-91 mini and the Bertha mini (Bertha is smaller but it had more thrust) and forgot to fix the FX placement. It will be fixed in the next release along with the Gemini landing gear bugs.

If its really bugging you open up the FASA_OrbitalBerthaEngine_Mini folder under GameData/FASA/Gemini2

Open up part.cfg with a text editor.

change

fxOffset = 0, 0, 25

to this

fxOffset = 0, 0, 0.25

Or just wait for the next update.

So I got a chance to actually play KSP and I came up with this gem the other night.

Its Rescue Big G in a shuttle configuration with a makeshift docking bay (MOL equipment part).

It took a bit to figure out the engine configuration but once I did it flew rather well.

That's great, I've wanted to try and lengthen that MOL bay myself, how do you do it?

Also I cheated...

I wanted a longer bay so i made one that was separated from the end-caps. It is harder to place because the nodes are so close together on the caps so I left the original one in there for ease of use. I may make the multi stack one just open from the top so its a real bay but I kind of like the both sides opening.

Could you rename the nosecone walls so that they register with FAR? As of now, some fairings don't have neither "payload", "fairing" nor "shroud" in their name, making FAR not recognize them.

He's said on multiple occasions that he will NOT add mod support.

I will fix bugs associated with them but I don't want to go down the path of making sure FASA is compatible with most mods. That would be a full time job in its self.

If I rename the parts it will break save games and craft files for those parts, and im not willing to do that just yet.

If its a big deal you can add the words to the names of the parts by editing the cfg files.

frizzank: not part.name, part.title. That doesn't break saves (that's one reason why Ferram uses part title, not part name). In fact if you spelled out Payload Launch Fairing for the walls and nose, rather than abbreviating it, that would work.

Also: props on the shuttle. In point of fact that last pic looks like some of the concept art for Shuttle Agena (Lockheed's proposal to make a Shuttle-compatible Agena, like was done for IUS).

New Launch tower, much better than the old one.

The elevator doors at the top and bottom are hatch exits. Clicking on one of the doors and clicking EVA will eject you from the door you clicked on. So you could load all your Kerbals in at the bottom, Ride them to the top and load up your rocket, if you wanted to.

I made the Entry Platform big enough for 2m rockets. It's a tad big for Gemini but it's not bad.

The retracting walkway comes out far enough to put it on the side of the IIIC and not clip the boosters when it launches.

Next Im going to make the actual launch clamps that will go on the bottom of the rocket for a more realistic way to clamp down your rocket.

Then the umbilical for fuel and stuff.

Is there any chance of making a 1.25 meter version later, after the clamps and umbilicals are done?

I am just going to half scale this one for a 1.25 meter version. The textures are larger than usual given how large it is and how it had to be constructed so I would get a re-use from the textures.

Also I am going to make the umbilical from the same textures so the overhead for the pack will be lower.

After I finish up these Im going to put out a release maybe sometime this weekend. It will have fixes and the new launch tower stuff.

After that I am going to start on Saturn IB parts. By the time I am done with the rocket parts, Denny should be done with the CSM and Lander.

Then Saturn V and bug fixing the previous release.

After that I would like to do some Apollo "What if" scenarios the same way I did for Gemini. There is a lot of great stuff in that line and it would be awesome to play with.
