[1.0.5] FASA 5.44

goo is in the FASA_Gemini_BigG folder, uses the same texture as big G docking so you cant git rid of one without the other.

Best thing to do is turn down your texture resolution in your KSP graphics settings. After that then start deleting mods.

If you need to cut stuff out try deleting folders instead of individual objects as there is a lot of texture sharing going on.

An example is the FASA_Gemini_LR91_Pack folder, it has 20 objects that share 8 textures. deleting the nosecones will not do you any good because they share the texture of the fairings for the engines.

While these are fun interesting bits they dont really have a purpose in KSP (some were used just to give some acceleration to settle the fuel in the tank). Also they would increase my workload, add to the part count and make it even more memory intensive. I understand the enthusiasm of having your own snap tight modeling kit to build a perfect replica of Saturn V that you can digitally play with, BUT, This is not what your going to get.

Your going to get a fun, pretty looking model that kind of looks like the Kerbals built Saturn V for their own dubious needs. Along with some really useful parts for expanding the stock game play.

The thing is, ullage motors are needed for EngineIgniter mod, which is a very important element of the "fun" part for me (and I'm not the only one who uses it). Also, they make the separation look really epic if equipped with a good effect. Piwa's Saturn V is a better replica already (though S-IC retros aren't done that well), but FASA one is gonna be more modular, which is what I'm looking for.

Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, the only aerodynamic-looking retros we have are from B9, which doesn't seem to be maintained anymore. I can see aerodynamic retromotors with a neat, jettisonable cap getting plenty of use.

Who do we have to bribe to get a decent 64bit KSP windows client with all this cool stuff frizzank is churning out some mods are going to have to go and i am really happy with what i have now awesome work Frizzank

Unity3D.com. Good luck. They apparently haven't gotten a 64bit version of Unity running stably in anything but Linux.

Sorry, but I have said it several times. They are Kerbal versions of NASA rockets, not NASA replicas. Replicas are not the direction I want to go with FASA. I want to keep it fun, simple, easy, and have it be a somewhat stock like in appearance.

Well, then keep in mind ullage motors are also boosters, but small. Since even Kerbal engineers were skeptical about adding boosters to upper stages, Jeb came up with "fuel settling" and "separation aid" explanation to get them to add some. :)

Jokes aside, there's a stock part like this, the Separatron I. If it wasn't so darn ugly it would've probably worked here. Also, since S-IVB ullage motors are angled, they'd also work for separating Titan SRBs, while being somewhat lower profile (and easier to attach) than the current semicircular separators. They are not complicated models (I could probably model them, and perhaps texture, but Unity rigging is beyond me), and they could share textures with the S-IVB APS. Realism bit aside, they'd be both excellent looking (by virtue of being modeled by you :) ), low profile separation motors. And an aerodynamic cap on the retros is just one of those little details that might not add much to gameplay, but look very nice, much like launch towers and cryo effects. In fact, they'd be almost certainly to-go retromotors for all of my non-hotstart rockets.

Hi there,

First of all I like to say thank you for producing such an amazing mod that I have now been using for 600+hours with no ploblems untill now, hence this post. I am hoping you can help me find the problem as I am dying to use the LEM and extra things you have added.

I have downloaded and installed v3.86 (was using 3.74 before and all versions before that) but I have a few problems that I cannot seen to find what it is. With v3.86 installed I no longer get options to perform experiments using right click. I cannot do pod crew reports, eva or even surface samples. All the other experiments no longer have the right click options, the only experiment that works is the geiger counter. I have tested it on all the pods with the same results. I have removed v3.86 and installed 3.74 and all is fine again but I am lost as to what the problem is. I run about 60 mods in career mode and my system is stable as I leave it on all weekend for 24hours (dam kethane scans). I have reduced the mod count to remove the memory load but same result what ever I do. Current files loaded are 2.54 gigs and memory load at 27% utilized. Any clues??

thanks

Hells

PS keep up the good work, the best modeling I seen

Though I think I know why we have so much love for Apollo, We in the us hold the Saturn V in near religious aw... and it is an impressive peace of a equipment 33 stories tall the Rocket nossles beg enough for 5 adults to have a tea party under one of them. and it is the only man mad rocket that took men form the earth and went some where... we for get about the first steps with mercury or all the work in Gemini, that made Neil Armstrong small step and giant leap possible... and he is right walking on the moon was not such a big step it was just the next logical step after all the steps before them.... thats what I try to do with my space program in ksp is to make the steps but I do not just want to stop at the moon

Dragon, I don't think we're going to get Frizz to budge on this. Maybe in the future, he'll make sep motors, but for now, he needs to make the actual Saturn V first. Before that, however, the KSP devs need to release .24, and before that, the devs need to debug .24, and before that... I think we all get the idea here.

tmikesecrist, no more early morning posting for you. Too many errors.

As stated on the first page, your steps are 1) RE DOWNLOAD 3.84 and try again, If that doesn't work 2)Try a CLEAN install with FASA your only mod to start. If that works add one mod at a time until you find the offending one that is causing the issues. Without that information there is nothing either mod creator (Frizzank or the creator of the mod that is interfering with FASA) can do. As you can see the rest of us are not having any issues like you are seeing.

Also you DID read the release notes where Science was moved around a bit yes?

Added science to Big G Docking, thanks to ParasiteX

Yes it is a sucky process to go through (I had to go through it a month ago myself.) But it is the only way for a Mod Creator to improve their work to work around things (if they in fact can be worked around.)

Yea it's not a released title official so expect a lot of bugs and re-installing when new versions come out. There is also the KSP.log file that generates on load you can look through there if your desperate and look for errors loading things.

You dont have to destroy your old KSP install, just make a new clean one somewhere else on your hard drive. Install FASA in the clean install of KSP and see if that works. If your having the issue still we can go from there.

With the MLP, will you make the Milkstool for the Saturn IB?

Not right now, maybe later when I have more time...

just a quick q out of topic but does anyone here watch Top Gear (UK)?

Please save this thread for posting about FASA, comments about Top Gear should not be discussed in this thread.

Added FASA missions to my upcoming spacesuits release - Mercury 3, 4, 9 Gemini 3, 4, 8, 12 Apollo 1, 8, 11, 13, 15 plus programme suits all with their own real patches on FASA suits so you can pick a whole programme or individual missions.

The Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Kerbonauts line up to watch Bill and Jebediah launch in Gemini 4.

As Bill and Jebediah get ready for the first Kerbal States EVA a rouge sandwich threatens the mission...

But all is well as they make their way outside to pose for a beauty shot.

which texture pack are you using for those kerbals?

Wow, that does wonders for the whole atmosphere! It is just the clipping that irks me a bit :)

Blame squad for that :P

*EDIT* There is a newer version of TextureReplacer that has a much better reflective visor system. I will be upgrading to that very soon!

wait that the texture pack for the kerbals that works with texture replacer i have been searching for since i saw that picture is on this thread somewhere or are you referring to the rocket in the background because i need the kerbal textures please *looks at you with pleading eyes like that of jeb before his first rocket launch when kerbal scientists told him not to get on it but let him anyway*
