This is a very old thread that has been transfered across several software/server updates, bringing some glitches with it. However, nothing in the thread is outdated info, so on it goes...

Question, why do people say that the Shenzhou is a Soyuz ripoff? Well it looks like the Soyuz, but that is because of a deal between Russia and China to give China Soyuz parts. I don't expect them to make anything different from the Soyuz with those parts. And the Shenzhou is not worse than the Soyuz. I see them equal. The Shenzhou had room for cargo on top and the orbital module can stay in orbit for the next mission, and it is larger. In conclusion, most people are just sucking in American propaganda and criticizing China in everything like the Shenzhou is a cheap ripoff or that their first spacewalk was a fake. What ever America says, they believe it. Of course other countries do this.

Ripoff is unfair, manufactured under license might be better.

They got parts and some technical help I believe, but did the rest themselves.
