GOOMH's foray into Rocketry

GOOMH

Recommended Posts

Hello this the place where I will be posting all rocketry creations! They range so far from Orbit capable vehicles to cruise missiles. I will post my favorite creations with an experience level of 1 day. toodaloo

Aries I, this is a simple mock up of the now canceled Aries I rocket program. I would make it look more realistic but I currently don't have a booster to propel the weight. Have reach heights of 300 km Plus

Titan III Lunar Modular - Base on the Titan II rocket used during the Gemini Missions, Actually the name should be Titan V but just ignore III and IV for now. Height Achieved 5000 km + . Will be my Lunar vehicle when the Moon gets implemented. First Photo was the Prototype version.

ICBM Night Wolf - Short Range ICBM, what more can I say

ICBM Liquid Fury - Long Range ICBM

Falcon Cruise Missile - Very short range cruse missile

Jeb's BOOMstick, after years of dreaming and many practical launches Kerbal's Leading Kerbalnaut, Jeb, was allowed to design a launch vehicle free rein using the simple ideals: make it as tall as possible and as simple and powerful as possible. Thus was born a 2 stage SRB rocket which towers over the launch pad and crashes KSP whenever it goes BOOM. Be warned may crash KSP make sure all projects are saved.

P.S. Photos Implemented

Since you're new, here is some KSP 101 :) :

1: You are just wasting energy when you dont burn all of your bottom engines at the same time (that 4-legged), you can do that by dragging their icons in the VAB to other stages.

2: Command capsule < Fuel tanks < LFE < booster = Again wasting energy, try placing the boosters on the sides, and repeat #1, but you said it was a model of a real-life rocket, so idk there.

3: Pretty cool designs, but try orbiting :)

Well he was recreating an Ares I rocket, which was configured like that - a 4 or 5 stage Solid Booster with the 'main' liquid rocket riding on top.

It would burn much longer than the solid boosters in KSP.

Anyway, there are valid reasons to not have all of your engines going at once, the idea is to deliver enough fuel to orbit to achieve your goals.

GOOMH: good work for 1 day, you're thinking outside of the box. :)

I can see why burning all the engines at once could be helpful but I set it up that way to conserve fuel for orbit possibilities.

EDIT: Updated OP

Yea but then you are carrying dead weight that you could be using at the time... if you REALLY need the fuel, just lower the throttle to a medium, since the throttle wont affect the boosters.

I'm sure you can get a perfect balance of the two conditions that should be met.

I'll look into some and try it out with LFE booster going and one with the main going.
