Would someone be kind enough to tell a new player (not me, I'm relaying the question) how to dock using Mechjeb and/or hyperedit? He/she would like some tips and links to information about those mods. Thanks in advance.

If I can suggest : he/she should learn docking without MJ in the first time...

MJ is an absolute idiot in the last phase of docking : it uses monopropellant as if it was free (no kidding here, just uses 100l when 10 is enought)! Someone who have not the habitude will certainely take this situation for normal and then carry unecessary amounts of monopropellant...

I can rendezvous and dock effortlessly manually using the NavBall for guidance and barely touching my monoprop supply. I tried to follow MechJeb's rendezvous and docking guidance once and gave up in a couple of minutes because it's such a convoluted process.

I suggest just figuring out how to use the Target information on the Map's closest point of approach markers and the NavBall indications. It's simpler.
