Great game! But the construction editor?

Hi all.

I'm new to Kerbal, just found it, and I love it, perfect idea for a game :) It's really amazing all the parts you have available right out of the box, and more so with the plugins. Totally impressed right here :)

But the construction editor seems to be lacking in a few areas. Or I'm just misunderstanding something.

* Once placed, an EAS-4 Strut Connector can sometimes not be removed. From the top of a radially mounted Rockomax Jumbo 64 tank to the side of the center rocket a few meters up. Only way to remove it is to remove ALL the parts it's connected to and rebuild. Otherwise the Strut Connector comes right back.

* Often times impossible to place radially mounted things that looks to fit if I don't allow clipping in the debug settings.

* How do I nudge things up/down/sideways? Do I always have to place tall parts by mounting them in the middle?

Is this things that somebody else recognizes? If not, I must ask around a bit more what I have missed. I looked around on the Wiki but didn't find anything helpful there. Some threads on the forum mentions problem mounting radially, maybe that's what I'm experiencing.

Anyways, thank you for the best game I've played in a long time :-)

I also recognize this, but just ignore it, and live with it like all bugs in a game. As for the EAS-4 Strut, place it on the part you are going to connect it to not the Rockomax Jumbo 64. The impossible place glitch is common you can just place it somewhere else then change it to where you want it, easy fix. For the middle "glitch" you described it could just be that you need to press "C" to disable octagonal placing "it moves the part you want to add depending on the center location of the other part". You can nudge things by holding the "Shift" key and using Q,E,A,S,D for rotation movement.

Hope this helped!

I can be hard to remove a strut, but it can be done if you can click on just the right spot of the origin nub. Also, if you haven't done anything else yet, you can undo the part placement with ctrl-z.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Radial parts not wanting to place is a known bug, but there's a few workarounds for it that don't involve the debug console. The most reliable one I've found is to just snap the part to another attachment point first, then pick it up and place it where you want it.

You can rotate parts using the QWEASD keys. Just pressing the keys rotates it 90 degrees, while holding down Shift + pressing a key only rotates it by 5 degrees.

Feel free to stop by the How To section if you have any other questions. I also try to maintain the Drawing Board (link in my sig) as a library of links to many fun and useful resources, including tutorials.

Happy landings!
