Fox62, I think you'll find in practice that tanks of those scales weigh 648 tons, and 1.5 kilotons respectively, and due to oddness in the physics system will be prone to: randomly flying about for no reason, randomly falling off or having things fall off it, randomly exploding. KSP doesn't deal with single parts with extremely large masses very well, a lot of the settings in their cfg behave as if they're relative or on curves where you wouldn't expect them to, and a lot of important things about their behaviors are not controlled by settings. For instance, the wobble of a joint is defined by the relative mass of the two connected parts, so your 1.5Kt tank will be Extremely wobbly because nothing can compare to it's absurd mass and will thus have weak joints. This is why the radial attachment points all weigh so much.

Well, i have encountered a bug so damn bizarre that you have to see it to believe it, really. When I tried to place my new 3.75m spherical tank, it showed a tank with rescaled attachment nodes, but smaller model. Also, I have a feeling that the 3.375 rescale factor was a bit too high.

Indeed it is, 3.375 is how much to multiply the FUEL by. Your rescale factors are 2.5*1.5=3.75 and 2.5*2.0=5.0

Once you've tested that, if it doesn't work post the edited cfg here, in

 brackets.

Could I make a request? If yes, thanks, otherwise here it anyway; Could you please add plain jet fuel tanks (LF), as i am trying to build a jet refueler that isn't ecessively long/high. Thanks

I know taniwha already told you how to do this but when i first started with the game, my response to that would have...."ok, HOW do i do that?"

So, in case you don't know how to edit the config files, here's a simple drag and drop for you. Small, medium, and large tanks (both full and empty) that only hold liquid fuel. They will have the exact same textures as the normal LF/O tanks, so make sure you read the part description in the VAB to see which one is which.

Just take the 'ModsByTal' folder in the zip and drop it into your gamedata folder allowing it to merge with and overwrite the folders and part.cfg files that are already there. (Make a backup of your original ones first, if you would like)

I'm glad to see people are still getting use out of these tanks. I've actually been working on an new version of spherical tanks that would be provided with adapters to allow different size connectors for each tank. My question to you, Fox62 is do you absolutely need a much larger tank, or would the current large tank with a 3.75m attachment adapter work for you? It's seemed to me that the large one is pretty close to the limit of a useful size to mass ratio when full.

Heya Talisar,

love your tanks. Love them so much, that I made a Spherical Helium Tank (small). Uses the base "stockish" texture, but the black/yellow stripes are plain bright blue (like the green stripes on the Kethane-tanks).

Would you like to add them to your pack, or maybe add a link to a download link? And, of course, am I even allowed to modify and distribute that?

Didn't do a lot, in fact, I only modified the texture and cfg, removing LiquidFuel/Oxidizer for 5200 Xenon Gas (based on the IonPacks 2.5m-Xenontank holding 3000 units and the stock 2.5m X200-8 holding 360 Liquidfuel (roughly 8+ times as much Xenon than LiquidFuel), so my Helium Tank holds roughly 8+ times more Xenon than your Small Fuel Tank... should be more or less balanced).

Best tanks ever! I particularly appreciate you including Kethane, Oxygen and alternative textures. :)

Thanks for the compliment! I do have to say that I had a lot of help with the math behind the capacities and mass, and the Kethane/Oxygen versions as well as the default textures and ModuleManager cfgs were kindly provided by others. There is a great modding community here, so check out the first post where I tried to list everyone who contributed! Hopefully I didn't miss anyone.

0.21 has changed very little in regards to parts, mainly it's causing a big fuss with plugins. These should work fine but please if you see anything wrong say so ASAP.

Yes, please do. I am (slowly) working on a v2.0 set of tanks, but I definitely want to keep these operational!
