Mr. Kerbin
I have 3 SSTO's. 1. The Donnager class, which is totally not a ripoff of one of Matt Lowne's SSTO's! These are for the cargo version. Wet Mass = 45.554 tons. Dry Mass = 18.184 tons. Payload = 3.5 tons. 2. The Skylon class, which has gone through five different versions! Wet Mass (cargo ver) = 182.145 tons. Dry mass = 44.495 tons. Cargo = 20 tons. Crew (crew ver)= 48 3. The Energia class, the most powerful. Capable of lifting 45 tons and have ~700 Delta V left! Wet Mass = 425.948 tons. Dry Mass = 79.948 tons. Tested Payload = 45 tons. Potential Max Crew = 64 Edited July 20 by Mr. Kerbin corrected stuff
Riglen
my first non-rapier engine ssto 34.225 T wet mass and 13.225 T dry it carries 2 passengers and a pilot with RCS and a port for docking along with plenty of delta-v (800+ after LKO) it has just enough liquid fuel to reach 20k meters with a stable 5-15 degree flight path and have less than 20 delta-v after using all the rocket fuel also the wet and dry COM are in the exact same spot providing good performance no matter the fuel level https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198409027321/screenshot/2460739118164056893/ https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198409027321/screenshot/2460739118164053161/ https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198409027321/screenshot/2460739118164054347/ https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198409027321/screenshot/2460739118164060042/ also i don't know how to insert images because it won't work for me Edited August 2 by Riglen
Lyra
Here is Micron-12, a tiny SSTO for three that can fit in a Mk3 cargo bay. Fully capable of docking and up to 600 m/s of dV in LKO. https://imgur.com/LVkkrXd Edited September 20 by Lyra
Second Hand Rocket Science
Might try and make a thread for my terrible unique designs. Last time I did that it got abandoned though... so for now here's a rudimentary blueprint in the style I'd like to go for, heavily inspired by an old creator on here called Raptor9. Shame he deleted all his fantastic work. Edited October 2 by Second Hand Rocket Science
Second Hand Rocket Science
Decided to dump all my SSTOs since in the time it's taken to make the above blueprint a grand total of TWO (2!) new SSTOs have entered service! K-002 Guardian class, built for LKO resupply missions. Far too much power from 2x Broadswords. About 750 m/s of Delta V in an 80 x 80 km orbit, if piloted correctly. Spoiler Maiden flight. There were no events of note. Unlike her brethren, the K-002 is generally quite boring. The K-004 Guardian class, the by far biggest and best operational craft in the fleet. Originally built without high hopes as a tech demonstrator for the KH-Series Fuselage, she turned out to be able to carry more cargo, faster, higher, and more efficiently, than any other SSTOs in the fleet. Despite this however, a fuel imbalance killed the crew of the maiden flight, which was a gigantic oversight on the part of the Enterprises. Such a grievous error will definitely never happen again. 1200 m/s of Delta V (unloaded) in a 100 x 100 km orbit. Spoiler Maiden flight Beginning re-entry. Captain Fredorf has no idea this will be her last few minutes alive. The K-004 Terminator enters a flatspin during re-entry much like the K-001 Ranger has been known to do. The captain, knowing the entire air frame is completely heat resistant, calmly engages RCS thrusters and attempts to correct the spin. She wasn't to know that unlike the Ranger, who could be easily recovered during re-entry, the Terminator was completely unflyable dry due to an imbalance in the remaining fuel, and would not be able to escape the spin. Another 10km into the atmosphere and the craft is still spinning wildly. The crew are beginning to get nervous. Due to extreme G-Forces, this is the last image recorded of the maiden flight of the Terminator. On-board telemetry shows that at around 5 km the nose pitched 90 degrees downwards and Captain Fredorf was attempting an extremely risky manoeuvre to regain airspeed and pitch up. At around 150 m/s the captain pitched up hard, and the craft was almost stable when it slammed into the Kerlantic Ocean and disintegrated on impact. All crew aboard were killed instantly in the first and hopefully last crew fatality in the history of the Enterprises. Making my own thread is looking better and better...
