How to update and keep my saves and ships

Does anyne have a full list of the files I need to transfer to keep my game in the same state after updating.

I was happy to start fresh with 0.20, but with 2 more recent updates I would rather transfer my game over.

My first version was 0.19 so I'm new to the updating thing.

Once you get 0.20.2, simply find your save(s) from 0.19 and drag them all into the saves folder in the 0.20.2 folder.

KSP/saves/Savename << Copy that folder from your old version into your new version (same location), has your persistant save, quicksave and ship/plane designs. Savename is whatever you named your game(same) when you started it.

Just look at the "saves" directory. Under that each campaign has its own subdirectory. Copy over the one for the campaign you are trying to copy into the new installation. That's it.

The downside is that if you have any parts on any vessels that were introduced in mods, and those mods can't be put into the new installation yet because they're not updated, then any VESSELS that contain those parts will get REMOVED from the persistence file if you play from that game save without the mods in place. Since the game does not know how integral that part was to the design, it just refuses to load the vessel at all rather than loading it minus the one mod part, and then when it auto-saves to the persistence file, it's saving a version of your universe with that vessel missing.

That's great. Sounds easier than I thought it would be.

I've installed the same mods again (I've only got 3) so hopefully it will be fine.

Don't forget to also re-do your settings, though, since that file doesn't come over with your saved games.

And if you have any craft that included mod parts in 0.20, then be sure to install the mods first before trying to play the save game--you will find that your ships get deleted!
