But what is the rotational offset relative to I already know the offset but what I don't know is what it is relative to. Seriously though: Pretend with me for a second that the static, non-rotating X, Y, and Z axes of the universe and the rotating X, Y, Z axis of Kerbin are exactly lined up at T = 0. Right on top of each other now. Okay, now, rotate Kerbin by the amount shown in the bodies.ini file about Kerbin's rotation axis (which in KSP is always +Z). This new orientation of Kerbin is how Kerbin is actually rotated at T = 0. So the rotini variable really just describes the orientation of the planet's coordinate system with respect to the universe's coordinate system at T = 0. Does that make sense? My question is; does the non-rotating X, Y, and Z axes of the KSP universe at T=0 have the X Axis passing directly through the the center of Kerbin with its origin directly at the center of Sol at that moment, and if not where is it relative to kerbin at that moment? Oh, you're just looking for the position vector of Kerbin (in a Sol-centered reference frame) at T = 0? I honestly don't know. Gaiiden, can you do the orbit elements -> position vector conversion? Here is what I think, and was only seeking confirmation on; The the non-rotating X, Y, and Z axes of the KSP universe at T=0 does have the X Axis passing directly through the the center of Kerbin and that Kerbin's local coordinate system is rotate 90 (just like the INI file states) The reason I state that, is that T=0 happens to correspond exactly to the first sunset on Kerbin at coordinate 0o 0' 0" latitude, 0o 0' 0" longitude. What is messing with me is the mean anomaly of Kerbin = actual anomaly of Kerbin( since it is a circular orbit) but if what I said above is true then at T=0 it should be 0 not 179.908753682 at epoch (sec) 0 as is state int the INI data Gaiiden shared upstream in this thread.@Gaiiden FYI the sidereal rotation for kerbin was wrong in the INI dat you gave me. It should be 21549.4251830898 (sec). Also by the way no one seems to know that answer to this question. mcirish3 Posted January 26, 2016 Share Posted January 26, 2016 The reason I am so determined to find out for sure is because it is the last piece a puzzle. The puzzle being two fold. 1. Being able to have a accurate local clock on all the planets. (something no one can do now.) 2. More usefully being able, on all the planets and moons with atmospheres, to predict for any time, Latitude, longitude, and altitude the exact ambient temperature, which would then give you the exact local density. which means you could infact calculate the full optimally fuel efficient, just short of burning up your ship, launch and landing trajectory for any and all ship designs. Image attached, using latest version.http://imgur.com/fDFvQyW It's a fairly simple problem. it's due to the RAAN and Inclination not matching between the porkchop plotter and the Mission Architect. The initial orbit in MA seems to be perfectly equatorial, meaning you have to do a plane change AND the departure burn. plane changes require a LOT of dV. Make sure the initial orbit in MA has the same values as those you used to compute the departure burn. In fact, calculate the optimal launch before you launch your spacecraft, that way you can launch into the correct orbital plane from the start and save a lot of fuel. The procedure entry point ?throw_exception_v4@internal@tbb@@YAXW4exception_id@12@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Compiler Runtime\v84\bin\win64\mlutil.dll. I triple-checked the install directions and everything is matching up, and the file in question (mlutil.dll) does exist, and is in the correct location. I'm year 4, day 281 in my game and I'm running into some funny issues with the transfer tool - after entering my earliest departure and arrival times (year 4, day 281) I get this warning: Smallest delta-v value in plot (16.054 km/s) is greater than the maximum plottable delta-v in the options (10.00000 km/s). Set max plottable delta-v to new recommended value of 18 km/s? <NO> Maximum plottable delta-v has not been updated. Your plot may look funny or wrong. Are you telling me this program isn't smart enough to figure out an acceptable transfer time to other planets? Isn't this the purpose of the program? It works if I set it to Year 1 day 1. I would hope that the program could tell me how long it takes to transfer to another planet, and not have to check Alexmoon's Launch Window Planner... For the record, the table I have for a transfer to Eloo says it should use roughly 2,140 m/s of delta-V. Alexmoon says ~2,000 m/s. What gives? Hey, sorry for the late reply, life has been busy lately. Your problem is that the amount of time needed to get to Eeloo is more than the default number of synotic periods. Use the Edit -> Options menu on the main GUI to bump this number up to like 5-10 and see if that helps any.
