Great job, leax256! Wish I'd gotten a chance to see the live stream, but I was way too late :( I checked out parts of the video, you ain't kidding about that epic SSTO, heh. Looking forward to seeing the edited version!

And TheTriniFlyer, I'm totally cool with you going up next, if you'd like. I don't want this project to get in the way of anyone's studies or work. KSP is pretty awesome, but sadly real life is more important. So do what you need to do :)

Ok, so i've been kinda quiet, but I've made my module, but... (there has to be a 'but') I still have to record myself launching it :sealed:. So what have I done... (nothing) I have tested the design!

So here is just a Sneek peek of KerbolCast:= Persistance It is a large Dish designed to listen to the Sounds of Kerbol. Well a Kerbal Scientist (Jeb in a lab Coat) thought it would be cool... so Why Not! Also it is 30 parts.

Tell me if you would need a design change to reduce part count.

I'll de-orbit this kerbolcast then record myself putting the actual one up tommorow or day after, i'll try to have the vid up soon. Thanks

Ok video is finished and should be live in a minute

I also posted in the other thread too.

what do i need to do as far as the playlist goes?

Good stuff! I've got a playlist running on my channel to which I'll add all the videos. You're more than welcome to make your own as well :)

That's a nice looking module! 30 parts is fine, but like leax said, if there's any way of removing a few without impacting the quality, then please do. Maybe by taking out a few of the panels in the center? Though that'll reveal what's underneath (looks like one of the 3m-2m adapters). Still, it might not look terrible, up to you!

Alright! Broadcast settings are all synchronised with my twitch channel, test stream done and working reasonably nice. I should be able to stream my next attempt :-).

Leax, one question though: how do you download your broadcasts? I don't think my system can handle a reasonably large craft, with the size of the module im trying to get up, my broadcasting software and Fraps all running at the same time siphoning my processor. I'm trying to get a reasonably framerate out on the stream at reasonable quality :P. So, if i stream twitch, how do i download the video for editing and so i can actually post it as a video?

I recorded to twich and to local drive at the same time, had to crank my cpu to it's sane limit of 3.8 ghz

Ouch. I'm on a 2 Ghz device. Usually my processor does fine with its 8 cores, but with KSP lacking multithreading i might get a problem. I don't think it will survive an overclock to 3.8 Ghz - it has a tendency to warm itself up as is. Although that might be because i regularly play in a 30-degree environment.

well my need to get to 3.8 ghz is cause my cpu has 4 cores and ksp & xsplit were sharing a core or 2, if yours has 8 then 2 ghz should be fine

also I live in florida so i understand high temp problems, that's why I spent an extra $90 on a h80i

Okay, I'm done editing!!! My Video is Complete! You're mind will be Blown!

I'll link the Video in the other Thread and here later.

Note: I'll upload it tommorow as I am dead-tired from editing. Here is the Perstistance File. Also i couldnt reduce the part count sorry... Anyway, Please see my video tomorrow, bye.

EDIT: my Video is now up:

No worries about the part count, TheTriniFlyer, the module looks really sexy the way it is. Good job! :)

Spyritdragon, are you cool to go on the fuel depot? I'm gonna send out a round of PMs to the next few people, but there's not much left! In fact, the science station is just about done. Ddavis had to drop out, so it's just Goosexi and myself left for that. The fuel depot still has a few peeps left to go, though, hopefully everyone on that team can still participate.

I've also (finally) set up a Reddit discussion here, drop on by and check it out. It should bring some new viewers to the project!

Ill do my best, but i've been pushed into a bit of a tight spot timewise with the change in order.

Ill try to launch again this evening, if i've got the time. If i don't, it'll have to be next Wednesday, after me final exam.

If i can't get the module up in that timeframe, i'm headed out on a two week vacation :-/. I didn't think the project would strech quite as long as it has :3.

I've launched a Duna mission with 240 parts at launch though, so if two or three others go before me should i not make it in time i shoukd be cool. Else ill have to strip a few tanks off my design to get it to orbit in time.

Ill report back in the evening. (i.e. My evening, your noon probably)

Heh, yea, the project's definitely taking longer than expected. I guess it's no surprise with this many people, though.

I spoke to Holo and he should be able to go soon, should give you a few more days if you aren't able to launch today. Keep us updated! :)

Alright, here's the situation:

I got on last night, but i won't be able to get onto KSP till wednesday. I'm hoping to get my module up then.

I deemed the fuel tanks too big and heavy to launch during my timeframe, so i've radically overhauled my module for the fuel station. It is now a Mass Relocator (and it holds a bit of fuel).

The module consists of the top orange tank and everything radially attached to it.

aEdLWHM.jpg

I might have seen the concept on youtube, but it was so radically awesome i felt that this was the right replacement for my module. And, hey, it still hosts 4 seniors and 2 normals for standard docking, and holds 2 jumbo's worth of fuel.

You may or may not know the concept, but generally you place a very small craft, or just a kerbal, in the mainsails nozzle, shut off all engines, throttle up according to the power you need, then hit the ignition key, which is 9 for my design. The mainsails will fire up, cancelling eachothers effect so the station in general isn't moved, but what was previously in the mainsails nozzle will be propelled at possibly multiple hundred metres per second. Be warned, at full power, the thing kan propel a Kerbal on a Kerbin escape trajectory. I mostly intend to send stuff to the Mun with it though.

The craft is still hard to launch, but last night i managed to get to/past my second Asparagus-decoupling. It requires you empty the radial fuel tanks though, and even then it'll spontaneously disassemble at anything higher than 1.5 G's. I'll be looking for ways to strut it up more without increasing the part count on the final module.

I'm pretty sure i'll get on Wednesday though, and i should have enough time to get it into orbit then.

That looks good, bud! Pretty cool concept, too, I hadn't heard of it before. Now I need to get on KSP and try that out :D

And no worries about taking a few more days, we should be able to get at least one more person to go before then. I'll keep everybody updated, of course.

Danny2462 has a few videos demonstrating it nicely :-). Most notably the cannon-powered return from the Mun.

The cannons work great with the single-occupant lander cans. Try using a lander can, FL-T100 tank and two small radial engines or an ant engine. Possibly supplemented by a single probe-size/roundified RCS tank and two thrusters.

And i'm sorry about the very limited timeframe i'm in right now. I should have accounted for my exams earlier

All set to go here. Well, I had made a decent fuel/rcs payload but it appears our fuel depot could use some docking love. Maybe a nice docking arm with several size options? What do you think?

I like the idea, if it's what you want go for it

I think we have an open spot on a station roster somewhere, but with all these people working here we havea few strict gyidelines. For the time being, all we're woking on is the two stations in Kerbin orbit, so no cities/airports just yet.

Also, everything is completely stock, and i dont really see how you'd go around building an airport or a city out of stock parts.
