Copy ships from other files

Is there a mod the works similar to the way that the AdvDupe gun works in Garry's Mod? There are many times that I want to pull ships/parts from multiple save files so I can use them on another ship, but I have to re make them all indovidually. What the AdvDupe Gun does is save a design for use at a later date. This would be useful if it would be able to pull from the SPH and the VAB folders.

There was a plugin called Subassembly Loader that did this. It's now unsupported, but a new version called the Subassembly Manager is being made to replace it. It's available here: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/subassembly-manager/
