paulram16
Hey KSP community,Today I was having a look at the Devs weekly development blog and to my astonishment I quick to spot forum members complain about the lack of 'features'. It astounded me that some can complain about such amazing artwork done to our lovely Space Centre and instead complain of of the lack of game changing features and pros. Considering KSP is still considerably early in its development and the Devs continual commitment to their community, I feel I must express my gratitude. Devs keep up the hard work, your efforts will not be forgotten by many.

Whackjob
Um... did the update just hit? My savegame is greyed out.#EDIT: Nope. The crash that took out my last video recording also corrupted my save. ;_;
stupid_chris
Some people just are never satisfied with what you give them. Offer them the early access to a game in development for a ridiculous price, they'll ask for you to complete it by tomorrow. And don't forget to add all the features they need. Just can't be glad to even have this game. But heh, I guess it's just the criticism they deserve.
PwnedDuck
And some people are satisfied by planets, manoeuvre nodes and the like, and not just graphical changes. Did the devs spend all of the leadup to .18 talking about the part retexture? No? Because actual features were more worth talking about, and whilst we know every nook and cranny of the 'new' KSC', we have seen nothing of the astronaut complex, and after that video hear little to nothing about the new SAS.And despite all this, I am glad to own KSP, and have faith in the devs. That does NOT mean I have to think they are right in everything they do. I think waiting for the actual update before judging it is necessary.
PwnedDuck
I am not judging this update (though I am judging .19 and .20)I am judging what we have been shown so far, and the excessive coverage of the remodelling toes the line between just annoying me, and worrying me that they don't really have much to actually hype about. I am perfectly happy that there is a new VAB. Now, once that's out of the way, I'd appreciate something to, you know, do...
stupid_chris
Then come back when career mode is out.Don't underestimate the amount of work under the hood that was made in .19 and .20. All the work you put on the development of a game cannot be all on stuff you will see directly in the game. A great deal of work needs to be done with the code and by optimizing your previous work as you add features. .19 and .20 were probably the update with the less in game content, but the most work under the hood. If you base off a "good update" on .17 or .18, you're gonna be dissapointed. Especially since they decided to accelerate the update process.Between .17 and .18, there has been nearly four months. .20 Took only two months and .21 is heading down this road. You should look at the stuff done/development time ratio rather than taking updates individually. And again, it's not because we aren't hearing about some features that they won't be there. We didn't hear about the new Mun craters until just a week or two ago. Really, especially since they are breaking saves, you can expect .21 to be more than just the new mun craters, a new building and new models for the KSC. Oggula
There is a certain amount of constructive criticism that must be made, for example the emphasis on developing parts that are hardly needed. Half the community appear to be forum zombies enthralled by the mods and stripped of their souls until they have nothing bad to say. However, I agree that it would be hard for somebody to justify the opinion that the game has gone in completely the wrong direction.
Flowz0r
I'd take people complaining about minor things over everyone praising every little decision as the greatest thing ever to happen to video games any day. I've watched too many potentially great indie games stagnate and die because their developers thought they could do no wrong based on community feedback. Is it warranted in this case? Probably not, and I don't see why anyone would think that .21 is not going to deliver exactly what was promised and possibly more, but it's better than the entire community ****ting their pants over getting 3 recolored blocks after a month of development. NeoMorph
For those who are complaining I ask them to watch the credits of an average computer game... Watch ALL of them. Then compare that huge list of names to the members of SQUAD who are working on KSP. Most games credits run for ages... SQUAD it is like "Blinked... did I miss something?".So comparing KSP development to any big name game is going to be meaningless. SQUAD are doing wonders for such a small team.My advice... just ignore the gits who are moaning because they cannot see that the core updates have made the game so much more stable and kinder to mods. I hardly ever crash these days now.
stupid_chris
There is a certain amount of constructive criticism that must be made, for example the emphasis on developing parts that are hardly needed...... but that are a necessary basis to keep on with the development flow. You don't build a building upside down, you start by the foundations and go up to the higher floors, even if all the real important stuff this building is for will be located on the 30th floor. Yes a certain amount of criticism must be made, but some tingly spidey sense is telling me we're exceeding this healthy limit, where every upset person is just screaming their discontentment and those who are content with the current progress (because yes, there isn't just the "criticizing the work being done" and the "forum zombie" categories) are just remaining passive. The silent majority is the one that is satisfied by the product they paid for and the work being put on it.
sierra_seven_
I eventually got tired of seeing people complain on Steam that a 40% discount wasn't enough, and that they'd only buy it with a 60% discount. Oh Steam, you get me every time
