The "perfect" plane

Recommended Posts

[As the title suggests I come up with a challenge to build the perfect plane/spaceplane

The following rules is listed under:

Stock Only

-Screenshot of the plane both in hangar and in flight

- Maximum 200 parts

-Must be able to fly timewarp without crashing or tipping forward/backward ( Higher timewarp more chance you have of winning )

-Be small enough to actually put it on a rocket to carry it interplanetary/or to the mun.

-Jet engines for the plane itself

-Multiple stages allowed, but final stage must be the plane itself or something stuck to the actually plane. For instance I sometimes put rovers under mine.

-Must be balanced and not tip over when flying, post a video or a download link to the plane. Or a screenshot of mass and lift. But won't be as good as a video or a download link.

-Additional stuff give more points, for instance weaponry give you higher chance of winning.

-The further the plane itself can travel, not with stages. Give you higher chance of winning.

NOTE: You need to prove what you aircraft can do. For example if you say it's an SSTO. Show a screenshot of it in orbit. Also screenshot how many parts because I can't sit down and count.

NOTE: All of these rules is not required but give you a higher chance of winning.

Me and some friends chose top 3 winners after 4 days ( 20- 28 july ) Depending how good your plane is. Ranking will be displayed below.

Congratulations to the winners!

1 - ChemRock Iguana 100 - By: Xeldrak

2 - SPO-1A - By: Bothersome

3 - KGBureau Arrow I - By: Kappa73

how much more points? how much higher chance of winning?

My plane here can fly 50,000 light years without refueling thanks to its on-board quantum-tunneling-phantom-tessarect-hyper-dimensional-reaction-fussion-reactor.

Do I win automatically?

But is it stock?

Some of the stuff in the link in my signature works. Almost all are with weaponry, can fly without tipping, timewarp or not (f*ck you, Kraken! I can go 4x timewarp and you can't do sh*t!). Anyway, I have many more, I'm just too lazy to post them.

Here's my entry, the KGBureau Arrow I, ssto plane. It's not perfect, but it is pretty good. All stock.

This could very well be the last thing i build in .20.2 so it's fitting it is a plane since i started this version building planes. The circle is nice and complete.

Here's my contribution: The Kerbal Arrow KF-701.

This is my "Around the world" time

It's a good airplane. Fairly easy to fly, not too twitchy, and really fast

EDIT: Aww darn. It's not entirely stock. The wings aren't, but thats the only non-stock part. My bad. I didn't read the rules quite thoroughly.

But it really is a nice 'plane.

I give you the ChemRock Iguana 100!

This lightweight, 20 parts plane is perfect to get from you country residence to the KSC if the Mission clock is a t -3:00 minutes!

With its twin engines it's highly motorized and due to their position close to the roll axis the plane won't flip out after a asymmetric flame out.

The Iguana 100 is however no intercontinental plane, it has a reach of about 300 km since it's only tank packs 150 l of fuel.

Should you run out of fuel anyways or loose control over the plane, the emergency chute will make sure that your Kerbal dies in another vehicle.

Also, it's actually rather capricious in flight - but I'm sure the new ASAS will make it entirely flyable ;)

I've been working on a space plane to train Kerbals and other small light load tasks. Here is what I've got so far.

Craft File -> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/54171727/KSP/SPO-1A.craft

93 part count. About 11 tons empty.

131072259FC7105AE64B7094684EF7DC6F4993C8

About 50 m/s takeoff speed.

5FD679E33A505CE46A7F6B61744BE62180858659

19,600 meter jet engine cut-off.

627375745BD20D23C2D370AF91B3FF72C66386A1

And still a usuable amount of fuel to operate in orbit.

Don't have picture but it can land at 30 m/s air speed (mostly empty of course).

But this one is turning out to be the perfect space plane. No excessive part count, light and easy to control. Never has tumbled on me either.
