Well, there's always the possibility it can't actually lift itself off the ground. In that case, MOAR BOOSTERS!!! :)

Check your TWR with some engineering plugin, it's difficult to overload a 5m Bearcat cluster, but it's definitely not impossible.

Hey first post, new to forum and game, I guess been playing for a few months and have found that NP is essential to my game enjoyment, which leads me to why I finally registered and am posting.

First and foremost let me thank you for your time and effort in to making my gaming more enjoyable. You sir are a god and I have much gratitude for you and what you do.

Now to the point of my post, I am running a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04 (as of yesterday the day before I had bodhi and everything was working great in ksp just the distro is garbage in my opinion but this is neither the time or place) with a fresh install of KSP .23 and NP as of today. When ever I load KSP x86_64 it crashes, I checked the crash log and it is not a mem issue. I read two other posts that detail this issue (one in this thread the other on the download page) Any idea's on a fix? or an ETA for a fix? As I said I really enjoy your mod.

Specs for my system

Intel Core i7 3630QM 2.4 GHz

Nvidia GEForce 730M 2GB dedicated VRAM

6 GB DDR3

As noted before I am not hitting my memory limit it just crashes.

TL;DR

I am not running out of memory but on 64 bit Linux issue NP crashes KSP. Any help/suggestions or ETA on a fix? Thank you much sir your mod is amazing.

Can you post a crashlog? Have you tried without NovaPunch installed?

There should be an "output" log in the KSP_Data folder (at least I think its there in Linux too, been a while since i booted it up) which will have more details. The crash log could help too.

You have to remember that KSP memory issues aren't necessarily related to maxing out system memory, even people with 16 or 32GB of ram can experience crashes because KSP (and its Unity engine) can only associate a certain amount of memory since its a 32bit program at its core (even the 64bit linux version has odd memory handling issues)

Given that it just stops in the middle of loading Squad assets and not Novapunch assets, it makes me think that it is a memory limit issue. Have you tried using this memory reduction plugin? http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/59005

If you can provide the other logs, we can at least pin down a specific crash cause.

Ok so here is the deal, there is no output file in the KSP_Data folder I want to find these logs. I want to know what is causing this. It has intrigued me and since it is preventing me from enjoying my favorite pass time I am bored. Also the reason why I think it is not a mem issue is because I had loaded the exact same config of KSP (I just copied my directory to my flash drive before re installing my OS) in a different linux distro on this computer no problem. It was only after my clean install that I ran in to issues.

Any way, can you guide me to these elusive logs. I want to get to the root of this. In my KSP_Data folder is just asset files and 3 other foulders Managed, Mono, and resources, and no output file is in any of these 3 folders. Sorry, I am a bit noobish I guess.

I will try to mem reduction plugin now and post if it solves.

Thanks for all your help.

Alright, I feel dumb, as I read like 200 different complaints about NP not loading and the answer was the mem reduction plugin. I just was confused, since it was not an issue prior to switching distro's. but the plugin worked and KSP loaded with NP. Thank you for all your help. Now I can again enjoy launching Kerbals into the sun. :-)

Great mod, Tiberion :) Thanks for keeping it updated and expanding.

Kudos for fixing the icon-zoom bug in the VAB. I notice the same problem (icon zooming into and past the camera on mouseover) with some parts from the KOSMOS Mod - could you explain what changes to the .cfg's I'd need to do to fix it?

Tiberion, do you have any news about the Freyja pod and the other seecret things you Might Or Might Not be working on?

If you haven't noticed, I'm dying for that pod. But you should see that as a good thing, as it means that you're making some beautiful parts :)

Not much news sorry. Biggest think the Freyja needs is someone to make an IVA. I've worked on some of the other stuff, like New Odin, but haven't settled on anything I liked yet. Been mostly unproductive.

Oh, right. I'd love to help, but I'm a terrible modeller, and I don't know how IVAs work. Does it need an IVA to be released?

Will this mod once be updated......?

Or can we tell it as dead

Because if not... it is dead. Sorry.

What the heck are you talking? The current version still works in 0.23 and if you would bother reading the prior pages you would see that Tiberion is still there and posting. Also there is a update in the works but it takes some time because Tiberion has a RL too. So how on earth are you assuming this dead...

Because it's still sitting at 0.22 compatibility. Although looking at spaceport it says it is compatible with 0.23 anyway, which only seems to be conditionally true. In 0.23 it works on my win8.1 install but not on my Linux install. It crashes the latter on startup. Not sure why either. It's not a memory issue.
