0.21 Anomalies Thread

After a fairly long search filled with a lander failure, a couple of landing failures, and eventually resorting to infinite EVA fuel...

I eventually found this monolith near the south pole:

ErOH2CPl.jpg

It's floating inside a giant hole, 3-4km deep with 1km radius. It's about 3km up from the very center of the hole. You have to be looking toward the lighted side of the hole to spot it. I probably should turn off terrain scatters when looking for these things...

Could someone check up on KSC2

It's there, and for me it is fully intact, and not buried in any amount; however, it is no longer floating, which is nice. I planted a flag on the launch pad for good fun.

Flew over the far-side sub-equatorial arch today, and that looks intact. Didn't have the fuel to land and get home, so I just left it.

Ok, finally explored all anomaly sites at the Mun

two of the arches are normal

one arch is straddling the edge of a crater, so one end is normal and the other end is floating

one monolith is floating above a deep glitched hole (about 3km above the bottom of the hole)

one monolith is underground at the center of another deep glitched hole

one monolith is underground, and the surrounding terrain is normal

neil armstrong memorial is normal

crashed saucer is normal

After a fly-by mission led by Bob Kerman went successfully, a landing operation commenced. Mun was hyperedited into polar orbit of the Sun so we could get some light and we went to work. Axial tilt is not modeled in the game, so this is the only reasonable way to light a planetary polar area.

The barge Pusherman carried the second Liberator flight into polar orbit of the Mun.

Landed at 6500m+ "Mount Mun" near the south pole with the jagged hills in the background.

A view from the bottom of the south pole deep crater. The brand new EVA vehicle in the cargo bay was not deployed because the mothership handled the crater descent well.

edit: After further searching I found this in the crater.

A view that shows the sense of scale of the crater.

I can't seem to locate the monolith in the crater just south of the Neil Armstrong Memorial. Was it removed?

no, but it is underground now, so you'll probably only find it if you know the exact coordinates ahead of time

The squad monolith marker in the mountains 70km west of the KSC is there and accessible now. In 0.20 it was floating about 100m up in the air, but in 0.21 it is accessable but hard to get to. You'll need a rover with a wide wheel base and very low COG since the monolith is perched on the side of a 40deg slope. I dropped a marker on it while doing the reddit K2 challenge. Here is an imgur diary showing me traveling to the marker, dropping the marker and then completing the rest of the challenge.

  • 1 month later...

Now could anyone actually post the location of the anomalies please. PLEASE

pictures would also help because even when your at the location there is a lot of ground to cover.

I wish they would just put the locations on the KSP wiki, it's not like were going to find them by accident.

Ones I have visited in V0.21.276

@Kessel_Run .. pretty sure that ain't just any old Face ... (Carl Sagan)

You're thinking of the Tylo face. Also, there are around 25 easter eggs around the solar system. Look on Vall, Bop, Kerbin, the Mun, Minmus, Duna, and Moho. Kerbin and the Mun have the most, Duna and Tylo have less than 5, and the others have 1 each.
