Parachute not working on Mun??

Recommended Posts

So, I am absolutely loving this game. It's great in so many ways.

However, I'm having an issue with deploying my parachute while trying to land on Mun. The parachute works fine when deployed on Kerbal, but it doesn't seem to be working on the Mun, even when approaching at very, very low speeds. Can anyone help me realize where I'm going wrong??

Thanks!

never thought there'd be anyone asking this....

It's not that unusual, strangely.

Somehow, lots of people seem to either forget there's no air in space, or have a poor idea of how parachutes work.

I don't really get it either.

you cant use atmospheric drag to slow down if there's not an atmoshepre to begin with.

Be nice man. Keep up the tradition of KSP having one of the friendliest communities out there, there's no need to insult people.

Oh my gosh!

Okay, so right after I posted this I went for another try, and realized how dumb I was being. A parachute on the moon? ;.; haha

Anyway, I got myself some landing gear and was able to land just fine.

Thanks again to everyone for being so nice, even when presented with a less than astute question!

When you start a sentence, "No offense..." there's a pretty good chance it's going to be offensive. :/

Also, people under the age of 20 (or 50 even) may not be as familiar with moon landings as they are with Mars landings - where parachutes are used.

I was fortunate enough to watch the first moon landing live, so I got an early head's up on the moon's lack of atmosphere. :)

Buzz: "The moon has no atmosphere"

Neil: "Funny, I thought it was rather nice."

Glad you were successful in the end. KSP might take some time to get your head around in some cases, but one of the things I love about it is that you can always count on the communtity for support. As I said in my previous post, KSP has the best online community out of any game I've played, and personally, coming from a game like DayZ, it's definitely a welcome change (what can I say? Wannabe rocket scientists are much better to deal with than 'armchair generals').

Guys, I admire your patience and just general tolerance, because I was banging my head on the table with laughter when I first read the question. I certainly wasn't gonna answer it, because I thought someone is trolling. I am a bit ashamed of myself now, really.
