Screenshot Numbers.

Recommended Posts

It is probably a very minor issue but it somewhat irks me still (also I suppose the solution to this is fairly simple as well).

When you take screenshots in KSP they are numbered screenshot0, screenshot1, ... screenshot10, screenshot11, and so on. This somewhat messes up the alphanumerical order of those screenshots (for some programs) as screenshots10-19 come before screenshot2.

Would be really nice if screenshots would be labelled screenshot000, screenshot001 and so on in future versions :)

Are you playing the Steam version of KSP? Because mine are just screenshot0.png and so on

I'm steamless! ;) Sorry...should have been more clear. I agree with an updated numbering system.

most games have a datetime stamp. KSP should adopt something similar.

IE: ksp_screenshoot_2013_08_21_13_30_00.jpg (or something similar)

The way the screenshots are numbered now does indeed make it very difficult to manage them. If you cull/move some but not all screenshots, it then mixes in new screenshots with the old, as it saves the screenshot as the lowest unoccupied number.

I strongly request year-month-day-hour-min-sec timestamp numbering instead. I imagine it would be relatively simple to implement, and would make dealing with the screenshot folder a lot easier. ("_2", "_3", etc. could be appended to that in the case of multiple screenshots taken in the same second)

Can't you sort the screenshots by the Windows/OSX/Linux timestamp? I do!

Now you're getting into the realms of "advanced computer usage"!! :P That would work, but most users I have seen would have difficulty changing the file browser from Tile to Detail mode to get that information to display.

Having the date stamp inside the file name would make things easier. A nice to have feature I'd say.

:D
