Movies that inspire you to play KSP?

Europa Report and Space Cowboys, and various documentaries. Although it's not as simple as "something inspired me to play KSP" - I started playing KSP, it inspired me to watch space themed movies and tv shows, which in turn inspired me to play more KSP, and it just goes on and on and on.

Agree with everything mentioned here except Firefly and Star Trek and Mission to Mars. Hate that fake rendezvous scene, soo many goofs around those 20 minutes. Agree very much with Europa Report, I made a ship called Eeloo-1, look it up.

Want to also add the James Bond movies "You only live twice" and "Moonraker".

I've just finished watching Europa Report. It's a very interesting movie. I'm sure it would be boring to an average viewer because there isn't any typical Hollywood crap. It's not a great movie, but it's very realistic. You can clearly see how their low budget affected everything.

I'm not sure about the continuity. One second they're in orbit, the next one they're on Europa.

notfruit, you shouldn't had spoiled the movie for everyone, for god sake. :(

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, oddly enough. Both the old TV serial and the new(er) film adaptation. Space + absurdity + blunt British humor = pure delight. I can very easily see the Kerbals fitting into the HHGttG mythos; they're not even close to the strangest species compared to those introduced in it, even with their reputation for self-destructing rockets and insane stunts.

My Little Pony on Blue Ray, Oh yeaah!

....

...just kidding. Check out this series called Moon Machines. It inspired me to build an anatomically correct Saturn V Apollo mission, which is 95% mission complete. (I just need to pilot a little better, keep having mishaps, time-warp hickups, etc)

I wasn't telling this for first, but I watched it recently and it kinda fascinated me: Sunshine is such a film that can inspire you. Even Europa report is valid, both ends up in a horror creepy manner but that's acceptable (spoilering? ooopsss)

2001 and 2010 are both good, even mission to mars is absolutely inspiring.
