Seeing that a kerbal can comfortably survive re-entry as well as falls from 1000's of meters...

What are they made of ?

Are they a silicon life form ??

Based on a description of a rather interesting part:

Kethane, I think. They are green after all, aren't they? (just joking, I have no idea what chemical components are they based on. Something completely different from us, as even the water on Kerbin is WAY more dense than H2O)

Well, I don't think surviving reentry is special - it is only visual after all. I, however, believe that they are made of Karbon groups and phlebotinum, and rubber. They're quite bouncy after all.

Falls from thousands of meters, I don't think so. I just killed Bill from a fall at 2500m. He went "puff" onto the surface of Mün during a rescue mission to save him. His forward velocity may have had something to do with it as well.

I have dropped them off the top of the rocket they were once sitting it at the launch pad a hundred meters onto the ground without issues. I was worried the first time but turns out they're like bumbles. Because everyone knows bumbles bounce.
