BSC (Better Stock Crafts) - Aeris 3a - Yet another winner!

To Xeldrak:

Damit, the System didn't allow me to reply on your message directly. So the other way.

The MIG 17 is a nice looking plane, but that is all.

The farmoust better plane is the Double Delta III witch i then choose as my entry.

Even if it is a bit conservative design, it is for new players better conrollable. They should only avoid mountainous terrain when landing. Hilly sides are ok.

Also, only one entry per participant is accepted.

My bad, I didn't realise this. However, since my design(s) was just an engine variation of the exact same plane design, I take it I can kick the fudge back and relax, safe in the knowledge that it didn't really matter, right?

On a sidenote: I don't care either way, I'm not in this to win, just happy to take part.

Also; may I ask if we're supposed to be downloading these designs and giving constructive criticism to the developers of said design, or is it soley judged by a select group? I'm a little hazy and new to the world of kerbal challenges.

Please take the following in a facetious manner.

For all you posting your designs, and then reposting updates and the like. Some of us are downloading them and trying to form opinions, observations, etc. before voting. Please upload a finished product, or test your product more because

Aint-Nobody-Got-Time-for-That.gif

I'll be posting my craft soon. That is all.

Description

Introducing the highly maneuverable KP Fly airplane.

Javascript is disabled. View full album

The plane provides great control and stability under Fine controls with no SAS enabled and for the more experienced can provide higher responses when moving back to full controls (w or w/o SAS).

Action Groups

1- toggle jet

2- toggle ladders

3- fire missles!

4- drop bombs!

Abort - deploy chute and cut engines

Updates

1.1

-moved wings back to stop KP FLy's slight nose up attitude under no input w/o SAS

-replaced ladders with normal smaller ones as a result of increased space

*This version seems to introduce more instability with the airplane sometimes having to take off before reaching over 150kph on the runway

1.2 was trying to figure out how to improve the plane as it already has pretty good flight characteristics ... then it hit me .. if I'm flying this as a jet ... might as well arm it as one:

- added 2x500kg unguided missiles (action group 3) and 4x250kg bombs (action group 4)

For all you posting your designs, and then reposting updates and the like.

Funny you should mention that...

People started talking about maneuverability and it occurred to me that mine might not be maneuverable enough. So, I'd like to replace my previous craft with the one I'm providing now. Sorry for any inconvenience :P

Here's the T6e Peregrine, an improved-maneuverability trainer with plenty of power and service range. It even comes equipped with an ejection system for those really-hairy situations.

Album can be found here.

Thank you Xeldrak for yet another very educational and entertaining challenge! Here's my entry, the KGBureau B. It's light, just over 4 tons at the start of the runway and very manouverable. It's really hard to stall tho or spin out of control, and the single engine setup makes it safe for high flying also, no worrying over an asymmetric jet engine flameout due to lack of intake air. It is also equipped with an ejection system for emergencies.

craft can be downloaded here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47660163/KGBureau%20B.craft

this plane is very maneuverable but not jerky nice and smooth, also i tried to make it spin out but i couldn't (Will fly just fine even with one engine off). it would just come back to a straight path and that was without sas. With sas i think it would be impossible to make it spin out. takes off quickly so you dont have to wait till end of runway or even the middle. also its pretty fast at low altitude with its 2 jet engines.

this plane would be a good replacement of the Aeris 3a because its just easier to control and hard to mess up flying it.

Well, I've gone through about 4 majorly different designs with at least 5 revisions each and didn't come up with anything I really liked (not to mention some of them flew more poorly than I knew could even be made in KSP!). I learned from this that I struggle making anything that looks good, flies well, and is simple when it comes to small craft. I could have easily gone into lots of part clipping and used all of my VAB/SPH knowledge, but since that isn't in the spirit of the challenge, I'm accepting defeat here XD maybe 3rd time's the charm for me. I know I'll do better with larger planes, since there's more area to work with, but this one I can't do in such a short time! Good luck to all the contestants who have some design sense and actually got something submitted XD

SR2-"Ranger"

A craft designed with low speed, low altitude surveillance and exploration in mind, this craft is both maneuverable and stable at very low speeds allowing for a quick scout of an area. It is designed to help those that haven't come to fully appreciate the power and handling of a space craft in mind therefore it might be a little underpowered to some. Capable of reaching speeds in excess of Mach 1 at higher altitudes and a range of 450 km, it still has plenty to offer for more experienced users. Coupled with a safety ejection system, it can be put to use by any pilot.

Stats:

Flight Ceiling: 10km

Top speed: 400 m/s

Flight distance: 450 - 600 Km

Cruise height: 5 km

Cruise speed: 300 m/s

The D-2 Wyvern, referred to by its enemies as "The Ivory Drake," is complete with a set of 4 canards to aid in stability and pitch control, and is easily capable of performing a "kulbit." Slight upwards trim is recommended, but not necessary. Stable, maneuverable, fast, and agile enough to correct most mistakes at any altitude (within its performing boundaries. Also, mistakes that are most likely not correctable include but are not limited to: Performing a steep nose-dive at low altitude, attempting a "Split-S" maneuver at low altitude). NOTE: Zokesia Skunkworks and its affiliates are NOT responsible for any player-inflicted or bug/glitch-inflicted damage. Also good as a glider.

well since it's getting close to the deadline gonna call it a night. For the record I'm submitting the KP Fly 1.2 for the contest ... might as well go in heavily armed if I need to take down other planes!.

Sirine wins the challenge, simply because we would anger the Gods of Chaos if we did not chose his entry as the winner.

In all seriousness, WTF!? XD

Not so fast. The Gods of Chaos do not mind. Can you at least try mine out?

@Xeldrak: Okay, I've fixed it.

Side note I initially that that Messerschmitt in the first post was a 109G model, it even says so in the wiki picture link, but now I am pretty sure it is a F model as there are no wing armaments. I only see the center mounted cannon, which could be a 20mm or a 30mm but probably a 20 mm if it is a F model, that through the spinner in the propeller and was mounted in the V of the engine. Plus the top mounted guns on the engine cowling that were synchronized to fire through the propeller. A F model would use machine guns, forget the exact caliber prob standard 7.92mm , and a G model would use 20mm cannons.

Oh my god, I just came back to check my entry one more time before the deadline was over and I just now realized from the screenshots that apparently the back wheels must have been duplicated by accident oO. Is it still in the deadline? I have it fixed and some new screenshots, just want to make sure I can still do so.

Edit: I changed my first post, but kept the old one in quotes. If I'm over the deadline just take the old entry :(

Well, you were in time, but your edit still has 2 back wheels.
