Barracuda - Interplanetary SSTO VTOL

Stupid me, didn't read manual with enough attention. First attempts to reach orbit was very unsuccessful. How many fuel you should have when reaching LKO?

You all sorted then? :) Generally with my SSTOs I keep an eye on the oxidiser gauge more then the fuel one, a think an oxidiser level of around 820 would be a good target to aim for. Good luck!

I made a vtol once. It was supposed to be a normal plane but the game did something weird and the cockpit just went straight up...without the rest of the plane. These are much better, you got a knack for these things. I downloaded one but I'm still figuring out how to fly them right. I don't have the reflexes for it yet.

Is it normal that when I turn off SAS in space, Baracuda starts spinning forward?

They'll be a bit of drift, but why would you want to turn the SAS off? I just leave it on all the time.

It does take a bit of practice flying VTOLs, it's certainly more challenging then flying planes. It feels a lot more rewarding once you get the hang of it though. :)

Because when with sas on, if I push forward to let my nose down, I get opposite turn for a second or two, then it stops and then turns normally - nose down. The other way around - it goes smooth - if I want to lift the nose. All of this in space, not in atmosphere... So I wondered why and saw that in spins around when sas is off. With this is a bit difficult to get precision on nodes... But nothing very bad :)

Ah right... They did tweak the SAS again in .22, maybe that's why. :)

Say -- is the link for the tanker broken in the first post? I'm loving your creations!

Sadly since they changed the landing gear in .22 the tanker no longer works, as it's impossible to get to the craft level with the tankers docking port. Sorry. :( I am planning on doing a replacement for the Barracuda soon which will use landing wheels instead of legs, this should let me build a new tanker for it that will be able to attach regardless of fuel load. :)

Yeah. Wait till Tuesday.

Also awesome looking drop-ship.

Or you could wait for .23 and disable leg suspension.

Cheers guys, that's good to know. Once .23 rolls around I'll drag all my designs into the shed and give them a tune up. :)

Good use of unusual symmetry and weight balance in these vehicles! I remember the VTOL challenge from a long time ago. What camera mod is that, KerbCam?

I haven't actually used Kebcam or any camera mods for my vidoes, I've got some in production where Kerbcam does get used though...
