Yeah I really love this idea. It's an awesome improvement. But I think there need to be something implemented to give you a better idea of what each tree's' "design philosophy" is. It would also be kind of cool if there was a way to list the mods that a tree was specifically designed with in mind (maybe even a way to list mods that are particularly vital to the tree and then less vital ones). It would even be great to have a better way to preview the tree, but that's a ton more work and possibly difficult to implement.

Don't take my criticisms badly. I really love this idea! Thanks!

Yeah, that would help. But there are some trees which I don't understand why they are public in the first place. I'm not sure everyone using it understands that when they set a tree to public, it's public for everyone using treeEdit. There is a tree named 'test', that is basically stock with 1 brach adding all KAS.

Why is that public, whoever the owner is. Come on. :P

The strangest thing is that I don't see a thread for half of those trees, it'd be nice for people who are making trees public have an open thread talking about their tree and what they are doing. If it was truly just a test, then by all means remove the public flag so it's not crowding the list.

Same goes for personal trees, if it's just for you and aren't going to share it, why have it public again?

Let's be smart about this until R4m0n can do something about it, if something 'can' be done about it. Probably why he didn't post a link to it on the forums here.

Cheers,

EDIT: I started a thread on the KSP Modders forums, I highly encourage people who made trees with TreeEdit to at least put a reply/post in the thread to explain what their tree is about. In some cases i'm almost sure it's a personal test that's not doing much.

Well Medieval, Im currently making an app that reads the trees, and then displays them like KSP does, with part list and so on - Im just having trouble rendering the 'parts' - there will be '?' for the image for parts that arent installed from that tree, which will help people idenitfy a mod that suits them ;)

It should be done within a week, as long as someone can tell me what format the models KSP uses are rendered/made in

Going with MedievalNerds suggestion, i have just created a summary list in the general addon forum (cause i think the kspmodders forum doesn't get enough attention yet):

Link

Tree creators: please send me a PM with the information so that i can put you on the list.

r4m0n: The list of trees in TreeEdit is getting very long and doesn't scroll, some entries are dropping out of the selectable area and vanish in offscreen nirvana. Could you make that list scrollable or multicolumn (or as a temporary solution reduce font size by 50%?)

Went through this thread and the one on kspModder. Downloaded and installed latest. Am having this issue too. Running at 1920 x1080 (max for my display) and at smallest font size. Suggestions?

Treeloader is definitely meant to go in the game data folder right? I haven't been able to get it to load in a clean install of .23 so far, and wanted to check I'm not being a massive idiot.

edit : had a friend try and use treeloader on his non clean install of .23 and it worked perfectly fine, yet if he sends me his entire KSP folder with a technically working copy of tree loader, it suddenly doesn't want to work on this computer, given this is a new computer with a fresh install of windows, does anyone have a clue as to what could be causing this?

It would be great if a description window/field would be added to the tree selection so that tree authors could put up some information and maybe a button that directly gets you to the forum thread. Why? Well I've recently started Realistic Progression Light v18 and if you don't come across the thread and carefully read it, it will take some time until you discover that there is a mod which will help you to get your first bits of science. Sure it's mostly a problem of the tree but having a description in-game might help decide what to have a look at as well!

Anyone else having an issue where this mod no longer works? I get to the load screen, choose my tech-tree, and I have no available parts. I have used this for months now, and never had this problem.

Edit: Mod conflict, I'm an idiot. Nevermind

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
