What do I do with Crew Reports?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I just started with the Career mode and there is one thing that I have a doubt about. What do you do about the crew report? Do you transmit it, store it; and also does the craft need an antenna with it transmitting all the time?

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

Your command module can only hold 1 crew report at a time, so the best thing to do is transmit it, especially since you still get full value from it when transmitted, unlike almost every other experiment. (Don't worry, you just have to run the experiment more times if you transmit the results rather than recover the experiment).

And yes, you need an antenna to transmit data, also antennas require electricity to transmit data.

In contrary to most other science stuff, crew reports have no penalty for transmitting them back instead of recovering them physically. That means you should take them frequently and transmit them home immediately (as long as you have the energy to spare). To transmit it, the craft needs an antenna.

Keeping the report stored until recovery only makes sense when the craft has no antenna or not enough energy left to use it.

Yes on both counts. Each "science module" only stores one experiment at a time, and you have to either discard it or transmit it to get a new one. However, having multiple parts allows you to conduct the same experiment multiple times and store more than one piece of data.

Thanks a lot mate! :)
