Kerbal Genetics...

So this morning while walking the dog it occurred to me that:

1) There are no female Kerbals in the game (although I have seen renderings of female Kerbals on the website, none have ever been in my space program).

2) All Kerbals are of the family 'Kerman'

Needless to say this raises a number of disturbing questions. Not the least of which: Are Kerbals all inbred and is that why so many of them look brain damaged?

Maybe Kerbals are asexual and they reproduce by simply splitting in half?

Where do they all live? It would be amusing to say that they are so eco-friendly that the planet bears almost no sign of their existance, but I've seen how their space program litters and pollutes, so I'm not going to buy that story!

Anyhow, not looking for changes to the game, just observing some stuff for the lulz.

Just because they have the same last name, doesn't mean they are all family. In our universe, it means that. Not in the Kerbal universe.

I'm pritty sure that the Kerman name is a tribe name, rather than a family name.

The tribe has a strong tradition that only males do the heroic/dangerous stuf. My theory is that the Kerbal race has, for some reason, more males than females. This sparked the tradtion of keeping the females away from the more dangerous stuf (they used to all do it)

They reproduce solely by coding as they have no real biology. (it's a game)

Truly, Mr. Holmes, you are the most amazing detective of our time. After all, only a master of intuition and wisdom could identify a fact so perfective as KSP being a game.

  1. As of v1.0, I’ve noticed apparently female kerbalnauts. This negates my previous theory that the females were the hidden masterminds who produced the parts “found lying by the side of the road†and spurred the males to take absurd risks as a form of population control and/or entertainment.
  2. I can’t rule out the possibility that Kerbals are all inbred, but if we removed every human whose surname isn’t Lee, the remainder wouldn’t be anything resembling inbred within the next few dozen generations. Maybe there was a mass genocide by the Kerman clan long ago. How depressing.

The fact that Kerbals seems to have poorly conquered the durface of Kerbin (very few structures) and even learn science stuffs by taking surface samples of Kerbin is troublesome.

Add it that they seem to have access to a "very good" technologic stuff and all that rocket lying along the roads...

It sure: the Kerbals doensn't came from Kerbin!
