Which of your craft has the most part?

This thread got me thinking. "If I could make something of any part count, how wide could I make it?"

Pretty big, apparently.

#EDIT: That's just where I stopped. I can push that out for probably miles.

Longest launch into orbit took me two hours and twenty minutes in real time.

patient, no scratch that. Your some kind of KSP monk.

Largest part count I've launched was about 1000 parts, I got so bored and I was already pretty tired and I fell asleep waiting for it. I woke to the sound of it crashing into the ocean some time later!

I try to avoid such large launches as I just don't have the patience to wait.

The Jool lander back in 0.21 has the record with 856 parts at launch. Part count did not decrease much as only the SRB was dropped and I added some modules with solar cells and batteries.

Else I tend to build over complicated multi mission ships who easy push the part count past 500.

@OP: Probably Mission Duna. I haven't gone very large yet. This is a pic of under-construction, it contained about 250 parts at launch.

And, i heard somewhere Whackjob has a dedicated PhysX card, which might boost preformance. But still, two hours is pretty long.

... but, this one was larger.

I think it was about 4,300 parts.

Your part count has 4 significant figures ?

Do you have any idea what your contributions do to the ego of soon to be newb ? Not even a newb, but a soon to be newb. And every time I see one of your contraptions I decide I need to save another few hundred dollars for my next system build.

4300 !$!##$ parts, my system has a greater chance of spontaneously developing sentience then being able to even render that monstrosity.

Grumble, grumble, grumble, must build new machine over the new year, to play stupid game and not feel so inferior.

I am jealous of each and every one of you. I want to be a Kerbal Wrangler too damnit ! (Hmm that's not a bad forum handle).

BTW Why do little green men always smile when FRAPS is running ?

Whackjob, do you not get errors in the VAB when you're building so big? Whenever I build craft over about 2000 parts strange things start happening...... struts disappear and sometimes parts become unselectable. Have you ever encountered these problems, and if so, how do you get around them?

For a single craft, 400-something for my crazy cyclogyro (I know, it's not a rocket):

I also built a 500-plus part space station before.

That thing looks ridiculous... I love it!

Mine is petty compared to most of the stuff in this thread... :P

Yet here is my 488-part monster, my computer lags too much to go beyond that. It was used as a heavy lifter, and eventual Jool mission chassis in career mode when I had limited options.

Probably Ascension Station from 0.21, which I have yet to rebuild. It weighs in at roughly 1200 parts when no fuel tanks or shuttles are docked up to it, and each module making it up are 200-400 parts.

In terms of one-piece craft, I have my Odyssey interplanetary vessel at roughly 250 parts. All of my newer vessels in service are built under 250 because lag sucks, and this one is the closest to the barrier.

The struts themselves are still there. They just have a tiny "hitbox" and you have to move the view around and wiggle the mouse over the connection point before they become selectable again. I think the hardest trouble I have is that the view is locked towards the center. Makes building things on the outside more difficult.

The mods are fragging them, since they're off-topic. And they're right. My fault!

The Ambitious Infiniglider. 1654 parts.

Shown here in the later stages of the flight.

Though the lifter I built earlier tonight got close, and I began to get problems in the VAB. I'm also running on reasonably beefy laptop.
