The first four lines seem to be describing elements that combine to make the answer, but I can't seem to figure out which ones.

I got work to do, but I'm pretty sure each line is the chemical symbol for an element. Rearrange the elements to spell something out.

One beyond the planets reversed. - Mercury is the last planet reversed, Thallium (tl) is after Mercury.

One in airs of Earth dispersed. - Nitrogen or Oxygen

One that stars just cannot form. - an element heavier than iron, or a manufactured element like Technetium (tc)

One that's rarer than them all - could be gold, (au) or astatine (at)

Lots you shouldn't in water dissolve. Could be Arsenic (as) or Sodium (na), or Potassium (k) or others....
