Verb - Sweep/Swept.

Actually used in Curling, if one wants to call that a sport.

I bring chaos into order, but I may stop at a border. - Such as the trim between two flooring types.

Those with hideous faces find I take them places. - Witches ride broomsticks.

From a field or from plastic, at what I do I'm fantastic, - Can have natural or plastic bristles, good at sweeping up dust/debris

But those in sport don't need me for it. - Sweepers in curling brush the ice

To some I'm friend but to others I'm foe, - no idea

And you'll find me most places you go.

Randazzo nailed it. The original sport reference was that brooms aren't needed to sweep a series or podium, aside from curling or the fictional sport of quidditch.

I exist as one, but always in a pair.

Ack, I forgot to post a riddle.

A guard dog is tied to a ten-foot chain. A burglar tries to sneak past 15 feet from the dog, but the dog rushes forward and bites the burglar. How is that possible when it was tied to a ten-foot chain?
