Beyond the Planets: ???

Airs of Earth: Oxygen (O)/Hydrogen (H)/Nitrogen (N)/Carbon ©/Could be almost anything.

Stars Cannot Form: Iron (Fe)/Cobalt (Co)/Lead (Pb) (Presuming supernovae are considered an exception.)

Rare: Astatine (At)

Don't Dissolve: Calcium (Ca)

That's all I got for now. From what I can gather, it's a bit like a puzzle. Find the right elements, get their symbol, and rearrange their symbols to form a word.

Beyond the planets reversed: But Mercury (Hg)is a planet, and the once-theorized Vulcan is not an element

Stars cannot form (H)ydrogen, but everything else can form, however briefly, in the steps leading up to and past a supernova.

Shouldn't dissolve: Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), or other alkalis (explosive results)

Still leaves a lot of letters to play with. More clues?

And yeah, I guess this one doesn't invite wild guesses so much.

Clue 2: First figure out what element is "beyond the planets", then reverse that element.

Americium is after Plutonium on the periodic table sooo, Muicirema?

Or if you're not counting pluto then it's Plutonium, which comes after Neptunium. Sooo, Muinotulp?

Not so wild. I decided you meant 1) ion 2) n 3) ? (rn) 4) at 5) ca and tried to assemble them into a word. :)

Hm, if something beyond planets reversed, it may be Plutonium, Pt > Tp ?

Americium is after Plutonium on the periodic table sooo, Muicirema?

I'm guessing that it is just reversal of the shortened version, so "ma" for americium or "up" for plutonium.

Clue 1: As a few people have surmised, each of the first five lines refers to a different element. The answer, though, is nothing to do with chemistry.

Clue 2: First figure out what element is "beyond the planets", then reverse that element.

Clue 3: The second line refers to one of the main gases in Earth's atmosphere.

Clue 4: I wouldn't expect stars to produce heavy elements by fusion, but what about light ones?

I'm honestly starting to think that this riddle is too nebulous to be solved by anything other than a stroke of luck. There are several possibilities for more than one of the lines, plus then you need a half-decent Scrabble-minded person to rearrange them into the correct word.

It's true that most of the lines have more possibilities than I'd thought. I thought of characteristics of elements without really checking they were distinctive.

But there's a key detail that's getting overlooked, especially in light of my first clue that each line (except the sixth) refers to a, i.e. one, element.
