That is truly a thing of beauty. I can't wait to see your IVA for this cockpit.

Just finished the first cockpit. I made it more pointy than originally scribbled. Cos we're talking spaceplanes. They dash through the atmosphere like a greased up lightning, so I tried to make it 'look faster'

Can't wait to put it in the game tomorrow.

Hey guys, thanks so much for all the friendly feedback! It was a lot of fun to make this cockpit, I shoudl totally make more spaceplane parts :)

Mr. President Kerbin Kerman personally wishes our test pilots the best of luck as they depart with the new prototype SSTO.

Brilliant work Porkjet!!

The second image really puts the textures of the existing mk2 and wing parts to shame. Are you considering creating a texture pack for the old parts to bring them in-line with your superior stock-alike style? Sort of like a HD remake?

There isn't a squeak girly enough to express my pleasure at seeing those new spaceplane parts! Are you planning on working on wings? The B9 ones don't fit well with stock, and we could use some larger sizes (though I make do by editing the cfgs and making my own oversized versions of the stock wings).

How come this thing flies so well? Because I've added a lift rating to the cockpit! Yupp, why not? I don't have a deep understanding of aerodynamics, but anything that looks fast and aerodynamic should generate some lift, right? I'll add some (not too much) lift rating to all the upcomming spaceplane parts, so we can build lifting body -type things even without using FAR.

I always thought the mk 2 and 3 parts had a flat enough body to do lifting body.

Oh what am I saying THAT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Heres the cockpit for you to test. As a little extra there's a hastily slapped together MK2 Crew Cabin placeholder.

Didnt make it to orbit in this attempt, but our space tourists got to enjoy space for a few minutes.

Could you perhaps make an air intake styled on those on the SR-71? It could be identical in function to the stock Ram Intake.

I just can't understand how the stock Ram Intake is supposed to work... it just looks strange

Great looking parts and I have another idea which is an inflatable compartment for the 3 man crew carrying part. mUWZIxI.png

It would be like the original part but you can click inflate and an inflatable part will come out the bottom all the way to the floor which would make access easier and give more space. Again great parts and go at your own pace in making them and this is just a suggestion.

You forget to add the slash in your last brackets

Just wanted to say, GREAT mod! Thanks.

As long as folks are posting ideas and requests, I have one... A small, 1- or 2-Kerbal inflatable tent that can be stored in a KAS box, carried on the back of an EVA Kerbal, and deployed on the ground in the desired spot. For those times when you have to spend the night under the wing of your spaceplane on the far side of Duna or something.

Looks awesome, looks slightly too short though.

Also, is that a ramjet on the back?

It's a shock spike for 0.625m (mounted on one of Hoojiwana's RLA tanks in the pic) so it's proportions (and face count) would be off for anything larger, I could make a 1.25 (or 2.5m) version of it though

The engine on the back is a tiny RAPIER, which ended up looking a little bit too much like a stock turbojet :\ based on the experience though I'm making a v2 which is closer to the original idea I had for it.

First off, your new cockpit is GORGEOUS and I'm crazy excited to see what other parts you come up with.

I just tried the cockpit and crew fuselage out and found that they are breaking FAR. All my other planes are great, but if I load a plane with one of those parts, the FAR button doesn't show up on the toolbar, and I can tell that stock aerodynamics are applying.

I was able to fix it by modifying both CFGs and changing the line that says "module = Winglet" to say "module = Part". That got FAR running again. I don't know if it's the best solution, but wanted to provide feedback.

Thanks again for the beautiful parts!

Your new parts look good on my fusion SSTO.

I know you said the crew cabin is a place holder but I thought I should report a small difference in the size of the new crew cabin part and the B9 Mk2 Cargo Bay part as shown in the pic below.

HZ7fCAW.jpgLove your work, been using your stuff since it first came out. Thank you for doing it and good luck on your future projects! =

I believe the idea is to match stock parts rather than B9. If the crew cabin matches e.g. the Mk2 fuel tank but not the B9 cargo bay, then I would deduce that B9 is using a different size than stock.

A thought when looking at the Mk2 sketches again: if the cargo/bomb bay doesn't have front/aft walls then multiple ays can be connected to to create a longer bay. See e.g TT's Mk3 cargo bays or most of the larger B9 bays.

Yeah, I see that now, didn't realize the B9 MK2 was slightly off from the stock MK2. Thanks for the info.
