Kerbonaut in the makings here!

I'm usually known as shinyarceus4 on the internet, though I sometimes go by other names on some sites (especially Steam). I recently bought KSP, having watched many of Scott Manley's videos, and have done basic suborbital and orbital sciences, but not much else. What do you guys suggest I do to get more science?

Hoping for a warm welcome! :)

Are you doing the crew reports, soil samples, etc. on those flights? Meanwhile, even if you can't land yet, low fly-bys of the moons can be worth a fair number of points.

I have been taking soil samples regularly, and recently did a flyby of the Mun. I'll probably land on the Mun later.

Do suborbitals around Kerban. Launch in different directions so that you land in the ocean, the desert, the plains, on the mountains, at the poles. Do an EVA, collect samples, make observations, and get recovered. Soon, you will have enough science points to unlock parts for multistage rockets and science pods. Then, you can go into orbit, Mun and Minmus flyby, land back on Kerban, and get max science points for those missions. Eventually, you can unlock probes, batteries, and solar panels to start launching deep space missions and land on the other worlds. From there on, it is manned missions and return from those other worlds for even more science points.
