Jim Corp- Chang'e 3 "Jade Rabbit"

Hi all,

Well I have been quite busy in KSP recently and here is my second craft upload today, My version of the Chinese Chang'e 3 rocket and lander.

I have taken a few liberties with sticking to maximum realism so the launcher isn't 100% accurate. But she flies very well.

Here she is reaching for the heavens!

Make a gravity turn to the east around 8-9k m. Discard the boosters when depleted.

The central stage will take you up to an arc of around 160k m

Then press X to shut down the engines and separate the third interplanetary stage and fairings.

Use the IPS rocket to circularize your orbit and then shoot for the Mun.

The landing stage is capable of a direct decent onto the Munar surface, slowing from around 800 mps.

So ditch the IPS rocket and make that scarily quick decent!!

Here the Jade Rabbit has landed

To release the rover, press the next stage and the rover will pop up like an eager dog!

Keeping sas on simply drive the rover out!

Then just rover around taking in the sights.

Very nicely done. If KSP had powered hinges you would be set. Main lander looks very good.

I always like metal band tyres on buggies. I think we should get them at some point. They are cool.

So it seems you have the building addiction bad...

Stock hinges would be sweet! A long way off I think. They may come in a DLC later.
