Why phys warp?

Recommended Posts

An orbit of 51km above Laythe is absolutely in the atmosphere, and that orbit will decay. Very, very, VERY slowly... but it will decay. If you look at the atmosphere gauge under the altimeter, you'll notice that the needle is not all the way to the left.

It's prevailing wisdom that you should be over 55km to be 100% sure you're not dragging in the atmosphere. 55,263 is the minimum altitude to get non-physical time warp.

The numbers are never quite exact because of floating point rounding. The closer to a circular orbit, the worse the accuracy is. It's a thing built into the Unity engine.

We're not talking about the orbit markers. We're talking about that info screen when you're in map mode with Eve selected, the button on the right. That's not a calculated number; it's somewhere in the game database and it's just wrong.
