In the city because the summer bounces off the walls of buildings and is amplified by the following formula: (34/T * 16) - 73/W*7 Where 'T' equals the current temperature, and 'W*7' equals the nonexistent wind chill. How do I open those 'child-proof' containers where you have to press down and twist or something. Short of spending money on a chainsaw, I mean. Xorth Tanovar
Because bacon has no nerves. If the word "laughter" is pronounced as "laffter", why is "daughter" not pronounced as "daffter"?
Matuchkin
Because the English language is extremely complex, in the way that nearly every word of the language has its own evolution, combining with other terms and ways of saying it to form something completely different. The word Laughter originated from the Germanic/Old English word hleahtor, and the German word Gelächter. Meanwhile, the word daughter originated from the Germanic dohtor, Duch dochter, and German Tochter. Different origins, but it seems like the modern English spelling convention brought these two words together with the "aughter" ending. Why 3, if not 5? kerbiloid
Because thus spake Fibonacci. Why not just add a special letter for "aught"? Say, §. Then: d§er = daughter, l§er = laughter, c§ = caught
