SpaceXray
Guys I need some help, after doing a bit of editing of my Nylon, it now yaws right a bit all the time, making flight incredibly annoying. It does this while taking off and in flight(powered and unpowered). How do I fix this??
RocketPilot573
The WIP plane works the same, only it flies like total JUNK... xD damn new parts.Yea, I've found myself piling reaction wheels on the inside of my WIP shuttle to get it to fly straight! It wants o just flip upsidedown because the wings are on the bottom. And BTW as a progress report, the cargo bay is now fully functional, it can easily hold 2.5 meter parts just over half the length of an Jumbo orange tank, just like the Posidon STS (more like I just literally copy and pasted the cargo bay with sub-assemblies... Though it DID need adjustments). Edited October 9, 2014 by RocketPilot573

Frozen_Heart
As I'm so poor at SSTOs I'm working on a suborbital trainer aircraft. I'm pretty sure it can't make orbit but its damn fun to fly around in and while low on fuel can make 14G turns!
SpaceXray
What did you edit on the craft. Maybe something has symmetry turned off when you placed it again?Nope, double checked absolutely everything I only placed some rcs and 2 cubic struts.Doesn't matter anymore, I just rebuilt the whole thing from scratch so now it is no longer yawing right. RocketPilot573
The orbiter is finally done, that was the hard part, at this point I've made so many shuttles that making the thing fly straight is fairly easy for me. All you have to do is gradually lower the external fuel tank's engine's thrust settings to compensate for the fuel burning. The Srb's will be a bit tricky to make, it will involve SLS SRBs, the VAB, and a lot of Null Reference Exceptions.
RocketPilot573
So I I've went Buran Style for the launcher (actually I made the rocket and THEN realized it was like Buran:rolleyes:). Mechjeb's readouts says it should have more than enough delta-V to make orbit, and then about 1800 m/s with the OMS due to the atomic engines. And we have liftoff! Liftoff of the [insert Creative Name Here] and it's first journey to space! MaybeAnd the boosters have run dry, awaiting separa- BOOM!!!I think it needs some adjustments. RocketPilot573
GAH! This just in: The part clipping (2 boosters in one) has resulted in Kraken summoning. One of the boosters was magically magnetically attached to the shuttle (what is this i dont even).did... did they survive? No.put some sepatrons on the boosters and your in business.Already have those.UPDATE: Annnd the craft file is corrupted... This is exactly why I make tons of backups during the construction process.UPDATE2: Imgur... can you please explain to me why the image has stopped displaying?! ****, the Kraken has infected imgur!UPDATE3: Um, I tried uploading the image again and it still wont display, yet every other image is fine. RocketPilot573
Got it to orbit and back! The shuttle is basically done, just needs some minor tweaks and I'll release it.Javascript is disabled. View full album

Anyways, I hope they are. I think you made helicopters back when they were bendy.Weren't they bendy the whole time? the forum is crawling with shuttle doors. Giggleplex777
I'm almost done updating the Odysseus STS:Might be delayed due to reoccurring in-flight booster separation failures.Damn radial decoupler bug. @GusTurbo I need some help with the nose. I spent half an hour on that thing and it still looks bad.Edit: I justed noticed I forgot to add some rectangular panels to the trailing edge of the wing (like I did with the prototype). No wonder it looked weird while I was building it. *Facepalm* Edited October 10, 2014 by Giggleplex777
RocketPilot573
...I just hope mine isn't gonna have to rely on gyros for atmospheric flight =[ Actually I fixed the no control issue without reaction wheels (mostly). I just slapped 2 of those forwards swept canards on and BAM! Now the shuttle is all twitchy with control... too much control... (If I tap the roll key the thing abruptly rolls 90 degrees).Weren't they bendy the whole time? the forum is crawling with shuttle doors.BTW, my shuttle doesn't use bendy anything. I don't even get how those things work, all my attempts have ended in disaster. Edited October 10, 2014 by RocketPilot573
sgt_flyer
@Rocketpilot573 - if you did not have roll control issues before putting those canards, only pitch / yaw control problems, you should disable the 'roll' on those canards :)it should help you for keeping it under control

But since I am not allowed to KSP during working hours, I can't test this idea atm :'(

Rune
I'm not rebuilding my space shuttle until 0.26 when the MK3 parts get updated.Same here, I will have trouble enough remaking my fleet of SSTOs... The KTS Mk IV will have to wait for the proper-sized parts.Rune. This is the Skylon/Fairing update, IMO.

I believe I used EdExtensions to surface attach them to an octagonal strut. I also have a circular intake attached to the front node of the Mk3 cockpit to fill in a little space with black. This nose was lower in weight and part count than some of the others I've messed with, so I like it more.

I did try building one, but then I thought about my part count obsessions... and neither could I get it to look as good as yours.Rune. Kudos! But Ive spread so much around..As Rune said its the nicest shaped shuttle nose I've seen so far! I used the two stacks of little nosecones turned around a while ago on my first Dreamchaser. It looks great but was a pain in the ass to fiddle with, especially if you want to add things in there after.. Hows the Saturbo coming along?
