And that's with no Rangers docked or any base modules slapped on to the sides :0.0:

It looks to be structurally stable, mostly. The final docking port turned out to be less than half a port's width out of alignment, which is pretty spectacular all things considered. The KAS struts are holding things in place nicely for the moment, but I haven't conducted any engine tests yet; the 12 ion engines will produce around 180kN of thrust total, so hopefully the ship won't tear itself apart spontaneously. Obviously, they aren't your run-of-the-mill electric propulsion systems seeing as they produce a whopping 15kN of thrust each, but they're balanced with the stock ion engines, with just a slight improvement on thrust. Also, I highly doubt they'll be running out of fuel too soon...

On a related note, I don't suppose anyone knows if that Ubiozor welding mod is functional in 0.25? I could use it about now :rolleyes:

Wow, that is epic! 581 is nothing. You can still have 500 more parts and have reasonable framerates more or less.

One guy made the Icarus II from Sunshine which had 2800+ parts...

Yeah, 581 parts isn't necessarily a lot, and it's certainly just about playable at the moment, but that's without another 200-odd parts that are no doubt going to be sent up. It would be nice to have it running a little bit smoother :P

Those are intentionally dark photos, of course. Totally intentional. See, this is clearly a military secret project, and those do the test flying when no one is looking... right?

Rune. I have found out, having a fully loaded Mryia blow up on the runway is not very good for the runway. ^^'

Great looking craft Rune, interesting also. I hadn't heard of this thing before. Kudos!

A quick Ranger II test to Stargazer and back demonstrated that the brilliant little SSTO just needed a tad more fuel and a KAS strut connector.

The mis-aligned docking port has decided to shift a little, but it's not swaying or causing issues; in fact, the whole thing is holding steady now. Visually, it's not too noticeable, but if you look for it, you will see it. T'is but a minor issue.

Overall though, things are looking good :cool:

If you don't have the new IR parts, you're doing it wrong. I can't believe it took me so long to realize this. And tweakscale man, really refreshed this game for me. The claws look awesome.

Pretty unknown spaceplane proposal, yes. Juicy details here. I think I will make it work all the way to orbit, I really like it. And if you google a bit about the idea, the awesomest thing about this (other than it being launched from the biggest aircraft in the world, or being effectively an air-launched SSTO, which is already saying something), was the engine. It was supposed to use a tripropellant engine switching from Kerosene/LH2/LOX at engine start to pure LH2/LOX midway through the burn. Sea level isp 380s, vacuum 450s, and the tank was not humongous as in the shuttle. And you know the craziest thing? They actually ground-tested the engine cycle and made it work by the time it was cancelled! I think I will definitely finish this at some point, right now I have good engineering article that needs quite a lot of work but proves the principle. I have to figure out stuff like how much delta-v I need to orbit if I launch from ~10,000m, for example, so lots of experimenting ahead with a launch profile I have almost no experience with. I reckon about 3.5km/s will be enough, most gravity losses in stock are due to the first part of the souposphere and how slow you have to go there.

Rune. And they had plans to evolve it to include the external tank into the return vehicle airframe! But those are more dubious and there is no concept art.

What you can do, is using KAS, you can use the grapple hook to try to force things into alignment, and try to have it connect. If all else fails, ram it with a custom built ship designed for that very purpose! The Kerbal way!

The ports are actually connected, they're just showing some misalignment.

Well, if you're willing to launch 13 separate modules, docking each one precisely into place using a construction drone, potentially suffer from some not-insignificant frame drop, and then launch more stuff, then sure, I'll put the file up at some point :wink:

I need some help - i have this 1000 ton submarine, with 8 engines on the back. the problem is that it's too heavy - the engines do nothing, they wont make it go, turn, nothing. and it sinks, but i can't control it. Should I give up?

Tons and Tons of SAS wheels (and possibly rcs), and I had the problem with a similar design of a submarine too. The engines at the back do nothing, the top speed I got was like 0.2m/s.

Been working on what I shall call a Viking-Class cruiser. Pics are of the main section of the hull at different stages of building.

The initial frame consisted of about 400 pieces, but after installing TweakScale, I've reduced it to about 100.

Since these pics were taken, it's gone thru a few slight changes, mainly adding docking ports inside the hangar bay.

I plan to launch the empty shell on it's own, then start sending up modules to dock inside it. Since I use TAC and OKS/MKS, I've got a number of modules to send up.
