Columbia
Wow, who would have thought this would keep up for so long? It's one of the most important threads of the Spacecraft Exchange, I wouldn't be surprised if it went up to 1000 pages

pTrevTrevs
This thread is life, it lets people give previews to their projects, creating hype for the release, gaining the creator more rep. It's all about the marketing.
ScriptKitt3h
Testing of the newly dug-out Ranger goes well, with a re-entry test going flawlessly. The movie-accurate lifting-plank shape really does aid in smooth re-entry at a decent clip.Javascript is disabled. View full albumI also am working on a SR-72/NASP-style SSTO/hypersonic aircraft, currently with no name. The twin RAPIERs are fed from a underbelly ramscoop-styled intake, and it easily reaches LKO. Returning is another matter, due to my poor SSTO piloting skills.

FlipNascar
I don't know if it's the angle of the pic, but for some reason it seems odd. Are those control surfaces angled down into the middle? That's what's bothering me with it from this view. It's cute, but it boils down to that single gripe... And I have no idea how to constructively word it, sorry mate. Maybe if you try raising the "cockpit area", to me it seems like that needs more "bubble" and height. With that said, it's still far more impressive than my last attempt to build an A-wing. Redshift OTF
Amazing A-wing and Speeder bike! I'm wondering if you saw that guy who put a quad-copter in a Speeder bike model and flew it around. XD I also love the size of them.

TheBarnetts
I got a similarly massive SSTO to orbit today, but this more aesthetically pleasing one still needs some tlc.

TheBarnetts
Holy cats, are all of those orange tanks payload?? If they are, what sort of black magic did you use to get that thing off the ground? They're all payload . I made a similar space plane and just kept pasting parts on it til it got to orbit. I ended up with 1.5 of the biggest tanks worth of fuel so I reasoned the next plane would have cargo doors and should carry 3 orange tanks. First model had 32 turbo jets and a single 'mammoth' engine. This one doesn't fly nearly as good as the ugly one yet, but I'm pretty optimistic since the last one made it. Here's a pic of the ugly proof of concept: Edited October 18, 2015 by TheBarnetts
bartof
Actually, I use NoOffsetLimits as well and struts to make procedural cockpits myself, like this one:http://i.imgur.com/ltPzI3K.pngBut I think I'll keep the steel beams, if I use the struts, they might be too.. thin. I'll give it a shot, though.109f4 ? its beautifull sir
Guest
I've made another FAR plane cos why not? They're so much fun to fly especially with the flexible wing trick. This time I tried to copy the shape of a F-22 mixed with the PAK FA rearKeep in mind this was done in barely 45 min so it's not meant to be perfect, smooth, etc...Just wanted to show it off.Javascript is disabled. TheBarnetts
It flies without unplanned disassembly or rolling over to the left now. Seems low on thrust. I had 32 engines on the first and was trying 28 because I thought it was a little smaller... guess I'll have to add some more and hope it doesn't look too tacky. Columbia
109f4 ? its beautifull sirThank you! It's actually based on the Bf 109 G-6, here's how the full craft looks like:
Frozen_Heart
Doing a test mission before releasing this craft. I prefer to launch motherships in one go rather than rely on orbital construction. Still have to send the payloads up separately though.Final payload will be a Hab module, rover, lander, skycrane, and a pair of probes. I like the way you simplified the aft end to make things a bit more efficient. However, why'd you pick the 3.5 meter engine? Wouldn't it have very low isp?
