Flag shows as ongoing mission

It's a convenient way of finding your flags, though it'd be good if the map remembered which items you set to show and which to hide, maybe next update :)

That would definitely be nice. Maybe treating flags like debris to hide by default would be a good option?

I support this....partially. I frequently use flags as markers, so I don't need to see them until I want to land. If they were visible only for the SOI you are in, that'd be perfect. Of course you need to be able to toggle them as well. The simplest fix is as you've said, default hidden.

I just wish the damn flags would stop getting blown up when I blast off. I've got to jettison the landing legs and parachutes! It's not an option to carry them halfway to orbit!

You could do as Pete Conrad and Al Bean did...and put the flag a little further away to prevent its being damaged by your takeoff...

It's great at first, but later on when you progress in the game, the flags become a pain! Yeah, I'm one of those "noobys" who have not yet figured out how to go interplanetary, (I'm getting there though) . But the Mun and Minmus look like pin cushions, due to me trying to keep track of where I've been! Yes, you can delete the flags in the tracking center, but then you loose track of what biome you've been to,if you're trying to do "science". Yeah the flags can be a real problem when you're trying to set up a "nav-node. Very distracting.

I tried on Eve and it's really very difficult for kerbals to walk on the planet. It's as if they're wading up to their waists in the regolith. I kept thinking about them getting stuck or clipping into the ground or falling and being unable to get up. I planted the flag as far as I dared risk. But when my Lillith-class heavy lander ascends, there is a fusillade of shrapnel via 36 TT-38K Radial Decouplers launching 54 parts in all directions. It's like some anime character's ultimate move. Of course the flags get hit.
