Starwaster Posted June 29, 2014 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Okay, so is there a solution to the exploding EFT when you separate the boosters?I do a test separation on the launchpad and nothing bad happens, but when I do it mid-flight, the EFT always blows up and it's frustrating because the KSO doesn't have enough fuel in its internal tank to even circularize enough to survive a reentry with DRE.If you check your EFT temperature just prior to separation, I think you'll find that it's already pretty hot.The cause of the heating is that you've gone supersonic and if your altitude is too low then your temperature can be quite substantial. You need to either modify your flight profile so that you've got more altitude by the time you jettison boosters. More altitude means thinner air and lower temperatures.Or, throttle down so that you're not going so fast until you get higher up. Also, in your DRE config, not all the gear are shielded and one wing isn't shielded either. I dropped your config into a .cfg file and let module manager do its thing. I hope that was the right installation process for it and that I didn't mess it up (and that being the reason why I'm not seeing the shielding). Nolnoc Posted June 29, 2014 Share Posted June 29, 2014 the problem is with either DRE or Ferram the sepatrons on the boosters overheat the fuel tank in the middle. Too bad FAR is so picky about the cargo bay that testing gets difficult.Yeah, I tried taking off with an empty KSO (infinite fuel) from the runway with your FAR config and it just doesn't seem to generate enough lift to keep itself airborne.
