Is it just me, or are the Mk 3 Space plane cockpit and fuselage underused?

I think all your points are valid. The 3m cockpit needs an IVA mode, and the attachment points for the 3m aircraft parts are not very convenient. A while ago the devs said the Mk2 and Mk3 cockpits will probably get graphical overhauls though, so it seems that option 4 is likely to happen.

the reason it doesn't have an IvA is because they 're going to change that part in the future. No need to build upon a temporary solution.

Yes, that's the "standard protocol response" everyone tell me when I complain about the lack of IVA, which is strange, considering that the Hitchhiker had the same number of complaints in equal number and ended up with an IVA view.

I actually love the Mk 3 parts! I use it for a lot of my planes. Some of my planes, unfortunately, are forced to be designed in Mk 1, and for no reason other than that the center of mass of the Mk 3 parts is WAY too low. It's virtually impossible to set the center of thrust level with the center of mass on a Mk 3 plane without putting it on stilts to make room for the low-hanging engines.

To me this suggests these parts are place holders for a shuttle style cargo bay. with a payload on board the COM would be shifted upwards. I cannot wait for the patch where all the MK2 and MK3 space plane parts are replaced with fully functional hi-res parts.

That is because the Hitchhiker was/is in its final form: it won't be changed, altered or modified in the future. The Mk2/Mk3 parts WILL, hence why they don't have a custom IVA: No point in putting effort into giving them an IVA if you're going to completely overhaul them in the future.

I never use them, but mostly because there are no Mk3 engines/goodlooking adapters.
