The kerbals air force are demanding a new jet fighter because the one they are using now is old and outdated, slow and so may other things, so you are needed to design a new jet fighter for the kerbal air force. But they want some things that come standard with the fighter so here they are

Requirements

2 missiles

2 kerbals can fly

1 bomb

Able to go 200 m/s under 2000 meters

Can land a 60 m/s

Can go above 15,000 meters

Escape System

Extra things (optional)

Can hold 4 kerbals

VTOL

SSTO

Docking port

Voting For best plane will begin on the 25TH Of Feb and end on the of Feb 28th

Points

Payload bay (Can carry 0.5 tons) 20 points

SSTO 30 points

VTOL 20 points

Can lift one ton of payload(s) 20 points

Can hold 3+ kerbals 10 points

3+ missiles 10 points

2 bombs 15points

NO part clipping

THE PLANES

Jmiki8

Xeldrak

RocketscientestV

Redrobin

Hodo

burnoutforzai

Fellow314 Sadly cannot be voted because it doesn't follow one rule :( Better luck next time

Let the designs begin!

ChemRock could provide you with this (unnamed) Airplane:

Javascript is disabled. View full album

It meets all your requirements, it actually carries six rockets and two bombs.

I basically like this challenge, but there is a little lack of...challenge. I held a quite succesfull competition here, called "Doing it Apollo style" that utilized a point-system. You could use something like this. Or you can do it like I do in my BSC-challenges and let people vote after some time, wich they think is the best Plane. Still, oyu should probably add more design-goals if you are going that way.

Nice jet, very smexy. I was going to do a voting system and points but was worried you would get mad, so is it ok? Also, I know it lacks, Challenge, it's more of challenge so if you got any suggestions please tell me. I was also thinking making FAR a requirement, so tell me what you think

No, I will not get mad at anybody who concludes their challenge by a public vote - that would be rather nonsensical, right? Actually I'm happy if someone else does challenges like mine - these are the challenges I like and if you hold them, I can simple participate without having so much work.

I personally think that challenges that are not dedicated to a mod (like the KOS challenge over there) you should stick to stock. This way you have the biggest audience and everyone is familiar with stock parts and physics.

My suggestions would be either a vote - in this case the challenge runs only for a specific time, wich can be nice since you can lay it aside with a clean conciousness once it's time is up. However I would write out your design goals, maybe search for a few real-life counterparts of the plane you are looking for. Do wou want a bomber? A balanced air-superiority fighter? Is high range important or big payload? Something like that.

You could also go with a point system where you keep a leaderboard. Basically just need to come up with goals for people to achieve. Something like

+5 Escape System

+5 Operational ceiling > 15 km

+5 Operational ceiling > 20 km

+5 Operational ceiling > 23 km

(cumulative)

+2 At least 2 Rockets

+2 At least 4 Rockets

+1 At least 6 Rockets

(cumulative)

+5 Range > 100 km

+10 Range > 500 km

+10 Range > 1000 km

+10 Range > 5000 km

(cumulative)

and so on for your....number of pilots, maneuverability, maybe number of engines, type of engines, V/STOL ability....

It's is forbidden, and also be sure to keep eye at the OP, might be change things

Ah, yes - I would forbidd cheat-console part clipping. If you can double the operational ceiling of your plane by simple clipping another 16 air-intake into the same space a lot of challenge gets lost in my mind.

well there goes what I was thinking for this. I part clip a LOT of my parts but no more than 1/2way into each other. I used to part clip tons of air intakes into one place but found that that was 1: not realistic, 2: overpowered and 3: ugly with the part clipping effect crap. I now use the cubic strut trick for all my air intakes if I use more than one per position. I also use the cubic strut trick for clipping a basic engine inside a turbojet engine. That CAN be done without the cheat menu clipping, but I use it to allow my engines to remain a paired match.

I'm editing my entry right now... Was a fun challenge to do! It's a fast and challenging challenge to do!

Sorry that I did not post my entry yet, I just saw that some new requirements were set, working now on a new one.

I don't think you can make a plane in KSP without clipping. All wing parts clip a bit into whatever you mount them on. Also control surfaces pretty often go through nearby parts when used.

Also, what is a missile? What is a bomb? What level of enclosure is required for payload bay?

Why are no mods such as B9 Aerospace, KW Rocketry, TV Pizza and Aerospace, and P-wings allowed? It'll be odd to make a reasonable two-man "fighter" in KSP without at least B9 parts, as once you get to the two-cockpit range, you get much too large for reasonable fightercraft. That is unless you're looking for a multi-role strike craft, which is what it sounds like, but those aren't really fighters like the F-15/F-16.

I guess if the challenge name says STOCK then it should be built from stock parts only.

But I may be wrong. One of awarded features is payload bay and I really don't know what does OP imagine under it assuming only stock parts.
