Who's going to be playing Banished tomorrow?

Game 5 - Hard: Off to a good start with a quick population double (16 people!). That almost immediately turned around as they couldn't fish enough. Then someone misplaced all the wood, no structures were being built and come next winter they all starved again. Fish income so far is rather variable! Next game I'm going to diversify the food sources. Hard though with only 8 people!

In Game 6 they all quickly died again after they built houses for themselves and had nothing left to eat afterward. Game 7 I made them get food going first and then build shelter; that worked better and now I've got 40 people, they're 10 years in and have a durable supply of wood, stone and fish and are currently working on such luxuries as a hospital, fresh clothing and stone mansions :)

Game 1 - Hard - mild climate - disasters on, but none seen yet, luckily

32/0/9 (app. from the top of my head) and a couple years into the game

Seems to work out for now, but the eldest people are just in their 40s, so I do not have experience with population loss yet and do not know if my younger generation will balance it out - I guess and hope that the elderly couples "leave their houses behind empty" in time for the younger ones to still get children in the new family.

Got a trade post up - but no seeds available from the first merchant, just threw some stones at him, he responded with a barrage of onions.

Building is kinda hard for me, as I have not yet figured out how to get them to carry what log/stone/iron has been already produced to the construction sites - laborers seem to prefer chopping to carrying.

Some way to control where someone lives/works to reduce time spent commuting for lunch would be nice too.

Somewhere along building new houses for a new resource gathering hub I got to much population growth - maybe I will come back to this later, but I will take what I learned for now and use it in a new village - which already underwent a famine in the first years and is slowly recovering/growing.

I got this game day before yesterday and its awesome!

After killing two cities on EASY I found its best to quickly build a farm as fast as you can and get crops planted while its still spring, and keep as many people as needed working on it, and use the remaining to work on other stuff, or build more farms.

Focus on food only at first, then near autumn or so get a woodcutter and stuff and make firewood like no tommorow, and get a tailor if you can, and make sure to have a fishing camp thingy to supply more food during winter.

Keep the amount of food available going up, the moment you notice the amount of food during winter getting lower, BUILD MOAR FARMS!!! Otherwise if you wait till your food is low you most likely won't make it.

Now to make the ultimate city covering the entire map!

I just wish you could remove mountains.

For some reason I do best starting out on hard compared to anything else. Its probably the freedom of where to start building at in order to get an ideal location instead of a default.

My largest city to date has been just under 200 population.

What is killing me is the inability to specify what storage facility holds what goods. If I had control over that I could make a very efficient cache system for my resources, keeping industrial and domestic products separated from each other to shorten the walking distances for my workers.

Maybe in a future update they'll add the kinds of storage area capabilities found in the old Sierra city builders- fond memories of Zeus etc.

Tried my first game on hard. I had 4 people left after the first winter.

Second game on medium is going much better. Learned to pay attention to food when you are taking people from food production for other tasks. Went into a famine that lasted 2 years, though only a couple people died.

I've pretty much exhausted all the natural resources in walking distance. Forestry is going fine, though I might need a third one soon to keep people warm. The quarry is very slow, so I'm thinking I need education sooner rather than later, and I anticipate mining being the same. Also trying to get that town center up and running. Being able to track resources and usage better would be very helpful for planning, and anticipating resource shortages.

I dont understand how the quarry is SO much slower than mining surface stuff. they are using the same tools to mine the same material - you could argue half speed to account for having to not die (stupid H&S) but i think it is a BIT too slow atm.

Otherwise a dangerously good game!
